Tangled had been in the works for years prior to its release. The film went through a total of three working titles: "Rapunzel Unbraided," "Rapunzel" and finally "Tangled". The director also decided, wisely, to wait until the technology developed to proceed with the project. Thus, the film was treated to many changes! Initially, Tangled would be much darker: there were no songs, and no Maximus! So here, for starters, are three deleted scenes, directed by Toby Shelton, where Mother Gothel begins to suspect her "little flower" has had contact with the outside world.

Rapunzel goes to bed thinking that any secrets she has are safe against her "mother." But Mother Gothel has other plans, and sneaks a look at Rapunzel's diary.
Finally, Mother Gothel approaches Rapunzel in her sleep to confront her on the findings...
In a project like this one, you sometimes need to deleted some of your ideas. The deleted scenes are, most of the time, deleted at the storyboard, but the spectator can still have the pleasure to discover them in the DVD bonus features. Thus, you can discover the existence of Vigor the Visionary - a monkey! Strange, isn't it? The proof's in the storyboard images!
The beginning of a movie is never easy to create - it will need to immediately capture the viewer's attention, so it has to be chosen with much care to allow the immersion! That's why Tangled had many alternative introduction scenes. Here are both of them.
