Questions About Kit Cloudkicker

Question :

Hello, Jymn.

My questions are about my favorite TaleSpin character, Kit Cloudkicker.

I have read the Long Flight Home comics where Kit opens up to Molly a little bit about his past and even met some old street friends  (By the way, why wasn't this comic included in the TV series? I would've loved that episode.)

Questions about Kit's Parents:

1.) What were their names?

2.) Are they dead or are alive but unable to care for Kit?

3.) If they are dead, what was the cause of death? (Did it had
anything to do with war or Air Pirates?)

4.) Were they employed as pilots? And did they have the same love of aviation as Kit?

5.) Is their last name really Cloudkicker, or was it a name Kit made up for himself? If not Cloudkicker, what was Kit's real last name?

Questions about Kit:

1.)  Up until he met Baloo, was Kit?s life in the orphanage and on the streets similar to Charles Dickens? Oliver Twist?  What is the similarity  and the difference when comparing Kit to Oliver? (Personally, I feel that Kit is smarter and braver then Oliver.) Who were the Fagin and Artful Dodger in Kit?s streets life? He obviously learned some tricks before he joined the Air Pirates, such as catching the key to Baloo and Rebecca?s cuffs in between his toes in Plunder and Lightning

2.)  How and where did Kit learned to cloudsurf? How did the idea of cloudsurfing came about?

3.)  Is Kit eventually adopted by Baloo or Rebecca? The TV series never showed us that. How did they managed to keep Kit with them without getting in trouble with the Child Welfare?

4.)  What is Kit?s date of birth?

5.)  Since TaleSpin?s timeline was in the late 1930?s, did Kit had to be involved in World War II by 1945?

Bonus Questions:

1.)  Where did Baloo originally get the red and blue baseball cap he gave to Kit, before he gave it to him?

2.)  How did Karnage get the Iron Vulture and how long did it took to build?

3.)  Was the Sea Duck, which is a Conwing L-16, inspired from the CL-215?

4.)  Whatever happened to Rebecca?s husband?

5.)  If Baloo is supposedly always broke, how did he get the money to start Baloo?s Air Service and purchased the Sea Duck?

Best answer :

Yikes! So many questions! "Yer killin' me, Larry!"..................

Questions about Kit's Parents:

1.) What were their names? /// Not telling.

2.) Are they dead or are alive but unable to care for Kit? /// See above.

3.) If they are dead, what was the cause of death? (Did it had anything to do with war or Air Pirates?) /// Sorry for repeating myself.

4.) Were they employed as pilots? And did they have the same love of aviation as Kit? /// Hi.

5.) Is their last name really Cloudkicker, or was it a name Kit made up for himself? If not Cloudkicker, what was Kit's real last name? /// How's the weather?

Questions about Kit:

1.) Up until he met Baloo, was Kit’s life in the orphanage and on the streets similar to Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist? What is the similarity and the difference when comparing Kit to Oliver? (Personally, I feel that Kit is smarter and braver then Oliver.) Who were the (censored) in and Artful Dodger in Kit’s streets life? He obviously learned some tricks before he joined the Air Pirates, such as catching the key to Baloo and Rebecca’s cuffs in between his toes in Plunder and Lightning. /// Kit was an orphan, but never in an orphanage. He lived by his wits on the streets of Cape Suzette. While I love Oliver Twist (I played the Artful Dodger in a local production of "Oliver!"), Master Twist has nothing on Kit. Kit is much more bold, clever, and resourceful. Kit probably had friends he connected with, but the first "father figure" in his life was Don Karnage... who he eventually ran away from and ultimately joined Baloo.

2.) How and where did Kit learned to cloudsurf? How did the idea of cloudsurfing came about? /// Kit was an airport brat, hitching rides behind many different planes. How did he get his board?.... Not telling.

As for the origin.... I remember thinking that Kit needed something exciting to play with - like a skateboard - but cooler, and more aeronautic. I don't remember which of us (Mark or I) came up with the board, but it was part of Kit's character from early, early on. (Bob Kline did the first cloud-surfing drawing.) We knew audiences would respond to that gizmo, and that was our goal for the series. To come up with things that were wild and exciting. We called it (excuse my French) "the Wet Dream Factor."

3.) Is Kit eventually adopted by Baloo or Rebecca? The TV series never showed us that. How did they managed to keep Kit with them without getting in trouble with the Child Welfare? /// Kit was never officially adopted by either adult. Kit chooses to live with Baloo. As for Child Welfare.... HAH! This is the 1930's in a tropical country. No such thing! (If there was, Kit wouldn't have been living on the streets.) Nobody questions why this kid (with no birth certificate) is living at Higher for Hire.

4.) What is Kit’s date of birth? /// Juneuary 32nd. Or is it Febtember???

5.) Since TaleSpin’s timeline was in the late 1930’s, did Kit had to be involved in World War II by 1945? /// People, people, people.... This is an alternate universe from ours. It's similar... but different. Timewise, it's the mid-30's. Think "Raiders of the Lost Ark" -- between the Wars. But they are different wars than ours. Don't get hung up on our World History when looking at Tale Spin.

Bonus Questions:

1.) Where did Baloo originally get the red and blue baseball cap he gave to Kit, before he gave it to him? /// Mickey DiMaggio... or was it Babe Gehrig?

2.) How did Karnage get the Iron Vulture and how long did it took to build? /// Karnage stole the Iron Vulture, he didn't build it.

3.) Was the Sea Duck, which is a Conwing L-16, inspired from the CL-215? /// Uh, yeah, sure!!!

4.) Whatever happened to Rebecca’s husband? /// Uh, yeah, sure!!!

5.) If Baloo is supposedly always broke, how did he get the money to start Baloo’s Air Service and purchased the Sea Duck? /// Who said he's "always" broke? Sometimes he's up, sometimes he's down. At some point he started his Air Service (which is really nothing more than an airplane, an old building down by the docks, and a telephone). Also, remember how Han Solo got the Millennium Falcon??? Nuf sed.

"Kit was an orphan, but never in an orphanage."
Ouch, now that's a revelation. Most fanfics writers imagined that he WAS in one. Then again, everyone is free to choose which path they want to take, when it comes to fanfics :)

About the war => I think they are refering to "The Great War" in "Bygones", which may have laid to the confusion that it DID follow the same timeline. Thanks for that info, then.

Yes, he did get a loan for it, but how did he expect to pay the loan back if he's always broke? He missed 6 payments, even Baloo wouldn't be stupid enough to borrow more then he can pay back.
