Kimberli was born on the Calvary Breeding Base. Her mother was a regular Quarter Horse mare, while her father was a proud war horse named Blood Bay Moon. Her mother was very proud of her and was very protective of her. Hardly anyone got to interact with Kimberli, because her mother would scream at them and charge them, So Kimberli basically grew up wild, despite the four walls that kept her fom freedom.
Kimberli wasn't expected to be much. She wasn't as fast as the normal Quarter Horse or Thoroughbred, nor sturdy like one. She was also wild and unpredictable, lashing out at any human who dared come near her. She was much like her tempermental mother, who hated humans.
They had no need for her. She wouldn't make a good broodmare, nor riding mount. They tried to breed her to a few stallions but she bucked and kicked like mad. Each stallion came away wounded.
Kimberli was not happy with the life of a tamed filly. She wanted to be wild since the first time she had seen two wild horses running in the distance. They seemed so happy, bucking and rearing. Kimberli wanted that life. And it was given to her.
The calvary let her go. She wasn't worth anything to them and they couldn't find anyone to buy her. Not even the butcher was interested in her.
Kimberli didn't go far. She circled back that night and managed to kick down the stall door for her mother. Mother and daughter escaped into the night. They were extremely happy to be free, but they didn't realize the horrid dangers of the wild.
Just that night Kimberli's mother fell over a gopher hole and broke her leg. Kiera didn't know what to do. Her mother was in great pain and every horse knew that when a wild horse broke their leg there was no recovering from it. But she stayed and defended her mother from the wild coyotes and wolves as best as she could.
A lone cowboy stumbled across the scene however. He was saddened by the sigh of the mare with the broken leg and he ended her life with a bullet, putting her out of her suffering. Kimberli fled the scene. She no longer had a reason to stay.
The loss of her mother was hard on Kimberli and the life of a wild horse was much harder. But she learned, fending off predators and stallions who were interested in making her their broodmare. But one stallion she didn't fight off and that was because he seemed so kind and caring. He didn't ask her to do something she didn't want to do. He just invited her into the herd.
His name was Trooper and he was a bit older than she. But neither of them cared. After some time the two became a couple. Kimberli didn't care that he also had a love relationship with the other mares in the herd. She was happy.
