Fiery was born in the cavalry. His sire was granite. He was bred to a beautiful mustang mare. Fiery never knew why but she got along so well with the two-legs. She loved her son,,.and named him Fiery. His true name. But Granite always called him Donatello, like the two-legs did. He never really liked that name. His mother told him stories of roaming free and the wind in his mane,...The wind in your mane,..there was barely any wind in the dry desert base.

Eventually he was trained to be a cavalry horse, which was long, painful and difficult. Granite always told him to beghave himself and to stop being a throwback. A throwback! the worst insult to a cavalry horse,..A throwback! A rejected horse, with a bad tempermeant or build! Fine then if he was such a throwback,..why even bother, he never thought of Granite as his father. He started throwing riders off. But he listened to his mother,."Dear, do not be an awful horse. Be nice to everyone, the cavalry men are not cruel to you!" He decided to behave. As long as Granite did not give him trouble.

Then he met Beau. Also Granite's son. He seemed to get along with Granite better, much better, he didn't hate him for it, he just did not understand it. Then again, he did not have the same relationship with his sire he did. Then again,..Granite did push him hard to do better,..not like he listened. Or cared. But he got along with Beau. He liked him.

But every day, even with Beaus company,..he got,..restless. He wanted to run more. And he couldn't do that with a rider on his back. He especially wanted to,..when he was outside the base. But he controlled himself not to impress Granite, for his mother. He wanted,..deeply within him. To run, far and wide and find something. He wanted to ask Beau about it. But,..he didn't seem to have the same thing going on. He had had the urge to throw his Rider off and run away.

Then one day something new and strange happened, the gates to the base had been opened,...(Wich had happened before, with cavalry heading in and out,) Yet this was different,..Fire felt a gentle breeze as the gates opened,..'the wind in your mane'. . .it caught Fire's attention, and he looked to the gate,..they were bringing a new horse in,..Something NEW! This had not happened in a long time. The new horse was a mustang,..a wild horse,..Fire could see it in him,..the way he felt looking at him,..something about the stories his mother told him,..He knew he was wild. Some cavalry men brought him in,the stallion was a buckskin,....he stood out in the mix of mostly brown horses.  He was rearing and kicking,..then he stopped,. . . . . .to look around ,...then he started again,..fighting the men,..then his father had come over,. . .Granite. Not just Granite bu the colonel was mounted on him,..and had shot in the air. Fire was somewhat frightened. Everthing seemed to be silent. Then he saw the stallion . A buckskin stallion, a mustang. Like none he'd ever seen before,..he was different. He had something almost no horse in the cavalry had in them,.except maybe himself. Freedom,..he saw the horse stand up for himself, time and time again. Until he was put to the post. He could tel Granite did not like this horse,..but the colonel,..was,.....obsessed with him. Perhaps it made Granite jealous, he thought.

Yeah, they could be. Not like they'd have the same mother I guess.

Could they also be half-brothers since they share a dad?

Hey, I was wondering if you want my stallion Thor, who's the son of Granite, to be his half-brother and friend and in the calvary as well. Here is his link: http://www.animationsource.org/spirit/en/chars/Thor./49220.html

Cool, I saw some Red Taffy horses. There pretty. Plus there an actual color. Did you know they changed the rules so Sparkle horses/Not spirit related horses are not allowed,..yet the tags are still there.
