Name: Mariposa (spanish meaning butterfly, she was named that due to her facial marking)

Personality: Compared to her parents, Mariposa is quite a calm bird. She loves spending time with her family of watching all the carnival parties. She is quite social and doesn´t like being alone.

History: Mariposa hatched not too long after her parents got free. Along with her siblings she grew up in the joungle never being disturbed by humans but she fears them though due to the stories her parents told her and her siblings. Now as almost full grown macaw she still lives near her parents and meets them almost every day.

One day she spotted another red-fronted macaw. She never saw him before. She flew over and got closer, bit by bit. When he woke up, Mariposa sat a few feet away on the same branch. She tried to strike up a conversation, and succeeded after a few tries, since Lucás wasn't really the social type. Before she flew off, they introduced themselves. They met and talked during the next couple months, and soon a friendship grew between the two. During this time, Lucás slowly came out of his shell, becoming more and more social. As more months passed, they grew closer and closer. There were a couple weeks when they didn't hang out with each other, but still the friendship continued. Later, Mariposa got sick, and came close to death. Lucás stayed right by her side until the disease went away. A few more weeks later, the two could take their feelings for each other no longer, and after Lucás asked if she'd be his, she said yes. The two love each other more than anything, and are practically inseparable.

Relation to Rio: Her parents where caught by the same smugglers like Blu and Jewel, later in her life she´ll meet Nico & Pedro and become friends with them.

Other: Not visible in her picture but her orange facial marking runs down her back and ends with her middle tail feathers.
