Proverbs 27:2 Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth--a stranger, not your own lips.

I haven't found many strangers willing to comment on me, but before I get started telling you about myself here are some thoughts from someone else.

Bogart {Chaos}: "Fun to talk to, always a good help... plus it's not every day that one gets to talk to someone with hopes of getting published. That's pretty neat."

33rd Squadron: "...a loyal friend and a talented writer. A good friend through and through. Someone who would stick by you just as he stuck by this website through thick and thin. :)"

Zane: "Kind, caring, good listener, because of your writing im gonna say passionate. You have morals which is way more than what can be said for most people these days. diligent. plus you're fun to just have a conversation with."

Claire Cooper: "Well upon first meeting you it wasn't exactly a fair description due to the fact we weren't exactly on a friendly but after a while things started to get a little better and we started to know each other a bit more we began to get along more, all in all your a nice guy who words things a bit differently."

If you want to be added, send me a PM or post on here with your contribution.

Quote of the month:

I am Patrick, yes a sinner and indeed untaught; yet I am established here in Ireland where I profess myself bishop. I am certain in my heart that "all that I am," I have received from God. So I live among barbarous tribes, a stranger and exile for the love of God. He himself testifies that this is so. I never would have wanted these harsh words to spill from my mouth; I am not in the habit of speaking so sharply. Yet now I am driven by the zeal of God, Christ's truth has aroused me. I speak out too for love of my neighbors who are my only sons; for them I gave up my home country, my parents and even pushing my own life to the brink of death. If I have any worth, it is to live my life for God so as to teach these peoples; even though some of them still look down on me.

~Attributed to Patrick of Britain, more often known as Saint Patrick

Now for my part.

Hi, I'm Jake Razor, also known as Dragon Tamer. I also answer to DT, Dragi, Hunter, Brisbane, Hobbes, Tamerchu, Dr DT, Spyro, Fanfic meister, Preacher man, and a string of other nicknames.

In case you haven't guessed based on that last one (or the announcement at the top), I am a Christian, and yes you'd better believe I'm serious about it.á Now before you jump to any conclusions, let me just clarify some things.

Some people say I'm "intolerant" or "narrow-minded" because I embrace certain unpopular ideas.á This is my answer to such criticism.

á

For those who didn't get that, here's the direct answer: I have opinions. So do other people.á Some of those people think that I should shut up, and some would like to see me thrown to the lions (don't laugh, some folks I won't name have personally told me so).á That's their opinion, not mine.á Ergo, if you happen to be like them, andáyou don't want to live by my views, then don't try to make me live by your view that I should shut up.á What's fair is fair.

Also, if you can't have friends who think differently than you, that's up to you.á Just stop blaming me for it already.

Now before you think I'm defensive or stand-offish, let me clarify...

I'm fine with it if you disagree with my beliefs - in fact, I enjoy a good discussion with people from other backgrounds; it keeps life interesting.á All I ask is that you please contact me personally and decently. Please do not go through other people (or speak on behalf of "others;" I deal with individuals, not mobs or masks), swear at me, antagonize me, or talk about me behind my back. It's not going to do you any favors, because this is the message you're really sending when you stop debating like a sensible person and start using cheap tricks and profanities.

In other words, I have no time for people who think an F-bomb or other four-letter word counts as a valid answer to any rational argument.á Also, last time I checked, swearing is a punishable offense around here, so don't do it.

The bottom line is that if you want to know who I am and what I'm about, then you should talk to me, watch what I say and do, etc, and be sure that I'll do the same.á"Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right."á (Proverbs 20:11)

Speaking of children, ALL YOUNGER MEMBERS please do not share personal info (names, addresses, pictures, etc.) with me.á I would never misuse them, but I am a stranger to you and you shouldn't make a habit of getting too familiar with strangers.á Safety first.

Now, a few FAQs and odd facts about me:

How old am I?á Old enough to vote, enlist (hopefully soon), drink (never do), drive, marry, and keep a secret.á I could tell my age, but this is more fun.á No, I'm not tryng to insult anyone (and yes, some people have gotten ticked that I won't tell them my age.á I hope they never meet any women).

Why do I call myself Dragon Tamer?á(WARNING: Metaphors ahead)áMy belief is that a dragon is not inherently evil, but an animal of great power, as good or evil as the way that power is used.á Certain people, like dragons, tend to get out of hand with the power they possess, be it influence over others, physical strength, or some special skill.á While sometimes slaying the "dragon" can prove necessary, my own wish is that such people could be rehabilitated and their skills turned to good rather than evil; in other words, "taming" the "dragon."

For those who kind of glaze over when things get philosophical, dragons are cool.

Isn't it contradictory to be a Christian and like dragons? That depends on what kind of dragons one is speaking of.á Even many unbelievers are aware of the history of dragons as an icon of evil in Christian symbolism, particularly the Red Dragon from the book of Revelation.á However, the clearest Biblical description of a dragon is in the book of Job chapter 41, a creature called the Leviathan.á It comes at the end of a chapters-long list of animals, and is itself described as an animal.á Since animals are not good or evil as humans are, it stands to reason that neither was Leviathan.á Dangerous?á Of course, but then so are the lions to which both Jesus and Satan are compared at different times.á Simply put, dragons are dragons.

What do I like besides Balto and dragons?á Lots of things.á The Bible, of course.á Reading in general is a passion of mine, I love to write fantasy and commentaries, and I enjoy making people laugh.á A lot of my favorite books, movies, and shows (though I rarely watch TV) are listed below in my stamp collection.á I also like being outdoors, especailly biking, swimming, and jogging.á I ski a bit, but... well, if you've ever seen a classic Disney cartoon starring Goofy, then you should have a pretty good idea of my skiing abilities.á There are a lot of other things I like too, but those are the main ones.

What kind of music do I like?á I'm more into the style of music's lyrics than the notes.á If the message is good I'll probably enjoy the song, although I can't really stand scream-o and generally dislike rap (I did hear a nice rendition of Amazing Grace in rap once, but that's a rare exception).

What kind of games do I play?á See my stamp collection below.

What books do I like?á See my stamp collection below.

What goals do I have?á I want to be a published author, join the military, and someday get married and have kids.á My main goal, though, is to matter.á Life is temporary, but legacy is forever.

Here are some of my favorite things...

Holidays

Hobbies

Animals: I love pretty much all animals except fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, flies, and ants.á I'm mainly a cat person, although the one pet I would really like to have is a skunk (de-scented).á Why?á Just imagine people's faces when they meet it.

Books

I'm also a fan of Choose Your Own Adventure and Bloodhounds, Inc, but I don't have stamps for those yet.

Movies

I also like The Secret of NIMH, All Dogs go to Heaven, and Spy Kids, but I don't have stamps for them yet.

Shows

Still seeking stamps for: Monster Quest, Last Chance Detectives, and Surviving Disaster(TV). Lamplighter Theater and Adventures in Odyssey (radio).

Superheroes:

The one on the lower left is Aquaman, fyi

Comics

Games

Food

Favorite color: Red.á Green and gold are close seconds.

I'm always willing to offer advice or answer questions. I've helped a lot of people from many backgrounds, so feel free to ask me anything. Regardless of what religion, race, or age you are, what your background is, or what gender you are/identify with, I will do my best to give you the advice you need.

Friends List

A few of my friends (if you're not on the list and want to be, let me know. This is not an exhaustive list):

Redwolf03: Not on much these days, but she's the one you can thank for me being a writer on this site.

asaka ren: A great encourager, which is something I often need.

scamp 1: He's the kind of guy who appreciates little things like someone being glad to see him. áIt's always nice to be appreciated.

Mantisboy: An old friend, which on this site means a lot.

Ahura: A bit odd, but entertaining.

Day Dreamer (aka Thunder): What can I say?á She's fun to talk to.

Starfire: Another friend with whom I go way back. :)

Lax Gibu'u: Not someone I always agreeáwith by a long shot, but still a good friend.

periwinkle blue: Friendly, sociable, and into art.

Banshee, Bama, and False. áAll three are good, old friends.

Herimone Granger: We may not see eye-to-eye on Harry Potter, but we get along well otherwise.

colbyjones2040: He asked, so I added. áFeel free to ask if you want to be listed as a friend too.

This one is what I like to call my Remembrance List, cataloguing members who have left the site and taken a piece of what made it special with them.

Lady Aniu: Admittedly I didn't talk with her much in her latter days on the site, but I'll miss having her around.

sapphire_saphirilla: One of my first friends from when I joined the site, who was forced to leave because of the callousness and pride of others.

Orca Rider: Another victim of the same injustice that took sapphire.á May their names never be forgotten.

Shadow D. Husky: Very emotional, but he sure knew how to make his friends feel needed.

Lone Wolf_fanwriter: Now there's someone I goáwayáback with. I think he still comes around once every couple of years, but the site's not the same without him regularly here. áBack when he was a mod, I knew there was someone I could count on. áNow it feels like Commissioner Gordon moved away from Gotham City.

Skulblaka Shur'tugal: One of the site's more recent departures.á His contributions will be missed.

If you want someone added, please say so and tell me why.

Also, I like to laugh and make other people laugh, so here's something to liven up your day (for those who are confused, I rearranged it into chronological order rather than reverse).

Dragon Tamer (4 min) : Skul, so help me... :issedoff:

And just so you guys know, I don't really play The Game anymore - uness someone's around who give a good reaction to losing it.

Here's a teaser from one of my works-in-progress.á I know it may seem like a strange choice of story for this time of year, but there is actually a very logical reason why I used this piece.á See if you can figure out what it is.

?Are you okay?? I asked, knowing full-well what a stupid question it was.

Her only answer was heavy breathing.

?Just hang on,? I urged her, not sure if I was really talking to her or myself. What I was doing was completely and unquestionably insane ? but then I'd left ?sane? behind a long time ago. ?We're almost to the campsite.?

Trees shot by in a blur; the truck's headlights swerved to and fro as I navigated the twisting, largely overgrown track. Even over the sound of the engine I could hear Fiona's heart pounding ? or maybe it was mine.

A scream, barely human in its sound, erupted from her throat. She couldn't hold out much longer.

?There!? I shouted, shooting into the camp site. I slammed the brakes, swerved to burn off speed, and almost flipped the truck.

Fiona needed no second bidding. Grabbing for the handle with clumsy, swollen fingers, she opened it and tumbled out as the momentum of the truck carried over into her. The tumble would probably have put most people in the hospital, but that was another story.

I stopped the truck as if I were on auto-pilot and watched the next part in the same kind of sickening, horrified amazement I always felt when this happened. Even after seeing it so many times, there was still something in me ? something as much a part of me as Fiona's change was a part of her, that said, ?This can't be real. This can't be real. This can't be real.? Even now, I felt the same stunned amazement that I had felt so many years back on the night when my whole world went crazy.

Fiona's back arched like an angry cat's as she finally let the change take over. Her body seemed to double, then triple in size, bursting its way out of her clothes like they were made of toilet paper. Thick, beastial hair already covered every inch of her. I watched and tried not to throw up as her ears seemed to pop open like parachutes, and I could feel my teeth ache in sympathy as her jaws completely reshaped themselves. Another cry of agony escaped her as her neckbones popped like bubble wrap. With a guttural snarl, she threw back her head and howled to the night sky.

My best friend had become a werewolf.

She turned to me then, and as always I was overcome by the knowledge ? the sheer, heart-stopping awareness like a sudden drop on a roller coaster ? that she could rip me open then and there, and that there was nothing I could do to stop her.

Her lips were drawn back in a perpetual snarl; her nostrils flared as she scented the night air; scented me. Her clawed fingers twitched like they were hooked up to electricity, and her ears flicked as if she were sizing me up. She was sizing me up, and she knew I was helpless. I knew that she knew it, and she knew that I knew it.

I kept my sanity the only way I could; the same way I had month after month, year after year, every time she changed. I looked her in the eyes.

At a glance they seemed to have changed as much as everything else. Dilated pupils stared at me out of golden retinas that seemed to glow in the truck's interior light. Yet there was something in those eyes; a human expression which had nothing to do with the position of anything around them; brows, cheeks; anything. It was an expression of nothing except Fiona; a gaze which wept ?I'm sorry? and begged me to forgive her for what she could not control.

Then she was gone. In half a blink she had turned around and was off into the dark of the night. I watched her go and heaved a sigh of relief. Then, after I had gotten myself back under control, routine took over. I took a few minutes to throw up behind the truck, got out the tent, and set to work. I tried not think about where Fiona was or what she was doing... or the chance that this time there might be others in the woods around me who wouldn't have her restraint. Using the headlights to guide me, I pitched a small, one-person tent and supplied it with a change of clothes. Then, picking up the tattered remains of Fiona's clothing, I shook my head and put them in the back of the truck. She had been trying to design something that wouldn't be totally destroyed when she changed, but she still hadn't managed it. Shaking my head as much at my own stupidity as at her failed attempt, I closed both doors, locked them (like that would stop a werewolf), and settled in as best I could for a fitful night's sleep.

Why do I do this? I wondered as I did every month. Why do I drive miles into the woods with someone I know can kill me each and every month, then spend a night where she or anyone else like her can finish me with no witnesses? What on God's green earth is wrong with me?

It wasn't romance; that was for sure. The old high school flames between us had sizzled out years ago. There's not much appeal to kissing a girl when you know she uses that mouth to tear live animals apart, especially when the virus is spread by saliva. Neither was it some demented case of thrill-seeking; every time I went through the ordeal I wished I was dead. I thought about it, and as always I decided there was only one reason.

Her eyes, I thought. Every time she changed, she looked at me with that gaze that said a hundred things at once. ?Thank you.? ?I'm sorry.? ?Please don't hate me.? The list went on and on, but the point was always the same: if I didn't come out here with her; if I didn't give her a friend's support, who would? Of course, she could turn to her family. They knew what she was going through, and they wouldn't be totally helpless against her if, one of these nights, she finally lost it.

But that's just the point, isn't it? She needed to know that I was helpless against her, and to know that I knew it. She needed that understanding from both of us that the only thing between me and a gruesome death was her. She needed me to trust her, because it was the only way she could trust me. Sane or not, I was the only hope she and others like her had of ever being free.

She would be back in the morning; I knew. I'd be waiting for her; she knew. We'd pack up the tent, drive back to civilization, and act like everything was okay. She would go on with her life, and I would go on with my reasearch; hoping... praying... that somehow there was a cure to be found.

Oh, by the way, I switch stories roughly once a month, so check in now and then.

Anything else you want to know about me, just ask. :)

Hey, man. I haven't been on this site in about six years and I have no idea if you still remember me. Just logged back in for nostalgic reasons and saw your Merry Christmas message from 2012. No clue if you still visit, but Merry Christmas to you too. :)
