The Auni leader, Mkuu Comoros crawled out of the muddy river, followed by his fighters - Kyle, Keira and Kelele. All were exhausted and all bore stains of filthy silt and some scars, after a less-than-pleasant fight with small but aggressive alligators.
'Ridiculous,' growled Comoros, shaking himself dry. 'Led into a trap by Lagiza - AGAIN!' The Auni Mkuu was at a loss - he was infuriated and troubled. The alligators had not been difficult to handle - but every time Lagiza the Weaver foiled the Auni's plans to catch him and got his own back in some way, the more Comoros felt worried for his pride the Isu Keeney. Somehow it seemed Lagiza was getting cleverer than he already was and that he would become more troublesome than ever before - and more dangerous.
'What do we do now?' Kelele, Comoros's nephew, asked. He looked the most tired of the team, having dealt with one of the largest reptiles in the river.
Kyle tried to give a suggestion as to the Auni's next move. 'We could stay here - and lie in wait for Lagiza -'
'Do you really think he'd come back here?!' snapped Comoros. 'He's a cunning worm, Kyle, don't be a fool!'
Keira's eyes flicked to Kyle - her mate was abashed. He'd never been called a fool by Comoros, his old mentor.
Comoros immediately regretted his words. 'I'm sorry, Kyle,' he sighed. 'I didn't mean to . . . to . . . let's go. Drummer and Lynnie will be back at camp . . . and we must find Zeke. I have no idea where he is . . . '
