Kucha is the son of King Kovu and Queen Kiara of Priderock and the twin brother of Shujaa. As a cub he was always playful and mischevious but felt like second best next to his brother. Shujaa was the first born and was destined to become the future king of the Pridelands and so made Kucha feel unimportant. Because of the amount of time Kovu and Shujaa spent together, Kucha began to feel slightly jealous and that his father didnt care as much about him as he did Shujaa, however Shujaa saw this and begged his brother to speak with their father. After Kucha and Kovu had sorted things Shujaa asked Kucha if he would want to share the throne and become king by his side. Astonished that his brother would do that for him, he agreed.

After a while they both met an Outsider cub called Noki who had run away from her pride with her mother who had been killed on their escape and the three of them become best friends. Soon after they meet Noki's pride friend Libra who had gone searching for her. Kucha instantly is captivated by her. When her father King Hatari appears to "retrieve"  he recognises Noki and turns on her but Shujaa and Kucha stand up to him which almost resuslts in Hatari killing Kucha right there, but luckily Kovu and the rest of his pride turn up and save them. After a few exchange of words, Hatari heads back to the Outlands carrying Libra who is in tears. Heartbroken at the sight, Kucha starts to change in personality going from the happy and playful cub to serious and distant. As he becomes a full gorn adult he spends more time patrolling the Pridelands, defending it from Outsiders, and becomes very distant from his pride.

When he is again reunited with Libra they fight as Kucha accidently shouted at her causing her to angry with him but they sort things out again later that evening when she tells him that she has joined his pride. As they spend more time together, Kucha starts turning back to his old self and spends more time with his family.
