Scar/ Sarafina: How Would it Turn Out?

Scar/ Sarafina: How Would it Turn Out?

Maybe they did have a past? It doesn't turn out with Scar fathering Nala, though.

I respect people’s opinions about the possibility of Scar being Nala’s father, but I feel that’s not the case, aside from Disney’s no incest rule (not gonna lie, that’d be rather gross. Let’s remember, though, these lions represent people, not actual animals). Setting aside my theory that Scar simply cannot/ does not love anyone in a romantic sense, possibly in any sense, this is how I’d picture Scarafina turning out.

In my Zira theory, I stated that Mufasa, Sarabi, Sarafina, and Taka were best friends when they were cubs. Once Mufasa started training to be king, Taka started to feel second-best. I don’t doubt that Sarabi had queen training (or some form of it, since they were betrothed). Sarafina considered Sarabi her best friend, I’m sure, and felt lonely after she started seeing her less. I would figure this is how Taka and Sarafina bonded, feeling like they were only second best to their best friend. Eventually, Taka’s feelings grew into more than friendship.

As they got older, Sarafina and Taka still stayed friends, but Taka’s behavior towards Mufasa and being a king in general worried her. In his mind, though, he was probably acting in such a way so that they could have a better life together. Sarafina strongly discouraged his idea of the wildebeest incident and why he did it and eventually rejected his offer of becoming his future bride. She felt that if she were with him, she was betraying her pride, and she definitely didn’t want to do that. Afterwards, he wanted the throne only for himself and no one else. Scar’s behavior towards her eventually got more distant and rotten, so she left the pride momentarily to do some soul-searching (at which Nala was conceived at some point).

Assuming that Sarafina died in the middle of Scar’s reign, it would definitely shed some new light as to why he would want Nala as his queen (in the musical), especially if he still had some feelings for Sarafina.

What do you guys think?

PrinceKovu: If you are talking about Scar and Sarafina baing mates and Scar is Nala's father then I agree with you. But it is not impossible for them to become mates if Nala's father was a rouge. Scar and Sarafina could have cubs of their own that are Nala's half brothers or sisters

It wouldn't turn out for Scar and Sarafina to be mates because Simba and Nala would be cousins.

The thing is:
Scar has absolutely no feelings for anyone. He's selfish, evil, and no one in the pride likes him anyway.

@LunarWolf2 If you have the Blu-Ray version of The Lion King, it's on the special features. I believe it's under the making-of the film and the memoir of Don Hahn. One of the co-directors talks about scenes that they really wanted to be in the film, but couldn't because of certain things. The scene where Scar was going to seduce Nala was supposed to be a reprise of Be Prepared and it showed why Nala left the pride to find help. The directors decided to take it out because the film was already darker than other Disney films because of Scar killing Mufasa and the viewer actually seeing the murder. They also didn't feel that sexual harassment wouldn't be good for a Disney film. I agree with PharoahHound, though, that the scene works well in the musical, but the film portrayed as much creepier. The scene is probably floating around on YouTube somewhere if you don't have the Blu-Ray version of the film.

@PharoahHound Thank you so much!

@LunarWolf the cut scene is on the Blu-ray. Personally I think the scene works well in the musical, in which it's a song, but the way it was done in the movie deleted scene WAS really creepy.

@Youngsango Nice article :)

I'm totally glad that they cut it out because it is definitely WAY creepy!
I'm like, "Dude, stop it, you're like 100 years old compared to her, gross."

Scar doesn't only want Nala as queen in the musical, but it was a cut scene from the movie. They cut it because that felt it was too creepy.
