Official Despicable Me 2 characters

Despicable Me characters

In the modern dog-eat-dog world of supervillains, it's all about staying one step ahead of the competition.  And one of the world's most successful, and despicable, is Gru*.  Not that he showed any signs of it in his youth.  All he ever wanted to do as a boy was to be an astronaut, and go to the moon.  But with a mother like his, and an apparently absent father, poor little boy Gru's dreams were repeatedly crushed, setting the stage for a life of villainy.  Gru and his mother clearly are not native to the United States (where they live), and their broken English accent would seem to indicate that they originated from somewhere in central to southeastern Europe.

(* Gru is actually his last name.  Officially, Gru's first name is "Felonius", as seen on the computer screen during the background check Miss Hattie conducts on him.  His birth date is also given there, in the background information, as September 28, 1960.  Which would make him eight years old when the minions first arrive in America, and nine years old during the moon mission which he became so obsessed with as a boy.)

In his life, Gru has made quite a success of being a most despicable supervillain, setting his sights on really, really big capers designed to generate fear and respect.  Of course, he had to start somewhere...and that somewhere was in London, in the United Kingdom in 1968.  There, at the tender age of eight, he pulled off a daring caper by snatching the royal British crown out from the clutches of the greatest super villain of the time, Scarlet Overkill, who herself was attempting to steal it for her own nefarious purposes (and he did so with the help of the freeze ray he and his mother had purchased earlier from Dr. Nefario at Villain-Con).  In later years, he set his sites gradually higher: Las Vegas, for example, where he managed to steal the miniature versions of the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower.  In time, he moved onto bigger targets, and this brought him more noteworthy successes--such as the Times Square Jumbotron!  Gru also loves all of the high-tech vehicles, gadgets and weapons which he uses in his trade, most of which have been either provided and/or invented by Dr. Nefario.

Above: Eight-year-old Gru, in an audacious and daring move, swipes the British royal crown from the clutches of super villain Scarlet Overkill, after some very creative use of Dr. Nefario's freeze ray.  Thus he began a very successful career as a super villain in his own right.

But just as in other facets of life, young up-and-coming go-getters will rock the boat...and one day one particular fellow really rocked Gru's boat.  The super-smart, but rather nerdy young supervillain calling himself "Vector" stole the Great Pyramid of Giza, which made all other villainous acts pale by comparison.  Not to be deterred, Gru revived an old plot of his which would cast the pyramid theft under it's shadow forever...to steal the moon!  With his faithful and inventive assistant Dr. Nefario, and his army of little yellow minions, he set his plan in motion...

...just as three little girls came knocking on his door, looking to sell him some cookies.  And those three little girls (Margo, Edith and Agnes) changed his life forever...stirring in him some latent goodness.  Gru, you see, was never truly evil, even if he was rather despicable.  The girls brought out the good in him, and it wasn't long before Gru was not only adopting them as their new father, but falling in love with a lady spy whom the girls saw to it that he'd happily marry.

Voice actor : Steve Carell

Doctor Nefario has been in the evil scientist business for a very long time, and it shows.  With an incredibly inventive mind and a knack for problem solving, he is still occasionally distracted by the rigors of old age, which result in his often misinterpreting Gru's requests for new weapons or devices for his despicable plots and missions...with occasional comedic effect.  Doctor Nefario is completely and utterly dedicated to a life of evil, and is generally not comfortable around children.  He spends most of his time down in the depths of Gru's secret lair, usually in the laboratory and machine shops...creating various concoctions, weapons and machinery...and fixing stuff broken by Gru, the minions and the girls.

Above: Dr. Nefario in his younger years, demonstrating his many inventions (including the freeze ray) on the exhibitor floor at Villain-Con in 1968.  Gru and his mother look on.  Is this the start of a long-standing and villainous friendship?

Dr. Nefario routinely wears a white lab coat, black rubber gloves (with the Gru logo on them), a pair of goggles, red and yellow plaid pants, a yellow shirt and black boots.  He has a substantial double chin, a sharp hook nose, a pot belly, large and long ears, and a thin, wispy tuft of white hair atop his head.

Voice actor : Russell Brand

Margo is the oldest of three little girls, sisters in fact, who have lived for most of their lives in Miss Hattie's dismal orphanage, forced to sell cookies for her...and without seeing any benefit from the profits.  Margo is a very smart and sophisticated young lady, and takes it upon herself to protect her younger sisters and be their leader.  She's also quite outspoken, and not afraid to take a stand when she feels it necessary.

Margo and her two younger sisters, Edith and Agnes, regularly attend dance classes and recitals, and have a great deal of pride in it.

Voice actor : Miranda Cosgrove

Edith is the classic middle child...rebellious, mischievous and moody.  She is fond of disobeying and arguing with her older sister Margo, and teasing her younger sister Agnes.  Like Margo and Agnes, she has spent most of her life in Miss Hattie's depressing orphanage.

Edith is also something of a tomboy, preferring to stomp her way through rain puddles and imagine herself more as a fearsome ninja than a graceful princess or ballerina (even though she and her sisters regularly attend dance classes and recitals).  And yet, when the time comes to really train as a little ninja, after being adopted by Gru, she proves quite adept at it.  Edith loves getting into things, regardless of the probable consequences...and then blaming others when things go wrong.  She also loves wearing her favorite knit chulo cap (with its long tassels), and a matching sweater.

Voice actor : Dana Gaier

Agnes is the youngest and sweetest of three sisters who have spent most of their lives at Miss Hattie's miserable orphanage.  Agnes has an endearing innocence, and an overpowering love of unicorns.  She often finds herself the target of teasing by her older sister Edith, while she is also closely protected by her oldest sister Margo.  However, she can be a tough and brave little girl when the situation calls for it, and she has a scream that can stop a monster dead in its tracks!

Voice actor : Elsie Fisher

Eduardo Perez is the owner of "Salsa y Salsa" Mexican restaurant on the upper level of the the Paradise Mall.  He is a short, overweight Hispanic man with neatly-groomed black hair (and a receding hairline) reaching almost to his shoulders, and a short black goatee.  Eduardo wears a red silk shirt, black pants and boots and, around his neck, a gold chain with a letter "E" encircled by a thin gold band (which, when turned sideways, becomes El Macho's "M").  His young son, Antonio, is a frequent visitor to the restaurant, and often hangs around there when he isn't being a mallrat.  Eduardo also keeps his pet chicken, Pollito, as a mascot in the restaurant...and also as a security measure (Pollito is one tough chicken)!

However, Eduardo hides a dark secret: he is actually El Macho, one of the world's greatest former supervillains.  After a string of daring crimes, he decided to go out in blaze of glory "in the most macho way possible", dropping into the mouth of a volcano, from an airplane, riding a huge live shark strapped with 250 pounds of dynamite.  Thus, Eduardo put his El Macho alter ego into quiet retirement, and settled into the apparently innocent life of a restauranteur.  But in truth, he was merely biding his time, preparing to pull off his own crime of the century (and even hoping to enlist
Gru's help)!  He even managed to temporarily win over Gru's henchman Dr. Nefario, who assisted him in stealing the dangerous PX-41 serum, and turning all of Gru's minions into hideous, indestructible purple monstrosities!  In the end, however, Dr. Nefario's loyalty to Gru won over, and he restored all of the minions (except at least one, who apparently slipped through the cracks) with an antidote of his own design.

Eduardo, returning as El Macho, does not have the super-macho physique and style he used to have, but his secret lair, contained within the lower levels of his sprawling private estate, is impressive, with a secret entrance requiring one to get past a musical step-tile puzzle (with dangerous weapon traps for those who make any mistakes).  The lair is designed in an imposing manner, to evoke the stylized architecture and art of the ancient Aztec civilization of central Mexico.

Below you can see Eduardo dressed up as El Macho in his glory days..

Voice actor : Benjamin Bratt

Lucy Wilde is a junior agent with the Anti-Villain League (or "AVL"), an organization "devoted to fighting crime on a global scale".  She has been tasked by her boss, AVL Director Silas Ramsbottom, to make contact with Gru and recruit him into the AVL for a special mission: to recover the stolen PX-41 serum, a very dangerous mutagenic compound.  In their initial meeting, Lucy gets the drop on Gru very quickly with her lipstick taser, which she later admits to having thoroughly enjoyed. She then abducts him in her special car (which doubles not only as a miniature submarine, but also as a jet plane with just the press of a button or two!) to take Gru back to the AVL's mobile submarine headquarters.

However, in spite of initial abrasive difficulties (brought on by Gru's dislike of working with others who are his equal, and able to get the drop on him), a romantic relationship soon develops between Lucy and Gru, leading eventually to marriage after he nearly loses her during the course of their adventures together.  Gru saves Lucy's life after
El Macho tries to repeat the same epic ending he faked for himself years before, by tying Lucy to a live shark strapped with dynamite, and then to a large rocket, aimed at an active volcano.

In spite of her junior agent status, Lucy shows herself to be every bit of Gru's and even El Macho's equal...she's resourceful, she's clever, and she's brave.  And she has a great sense of humor, remaining almost flippantly upbeat even under terrible pressure!

Voice actor : Kristen Wiig

Gru's mom* is a gruff and abrasive woman...tough as nails and old-world in her mannerisms and style.  She raised Gru pretty much on her own.  But don't be fooled...nurturing was neither her strong suit nor her preference.  Every time young Gru would attempt to gain his mother's approval or affirmation, she would shoot him down with some snide or disdainful remark.  She's not a very nice lady, or a very good mother, except when she's comparing others to herself.  But she loves Margo, Edith and Agnes very much, and that's something in her favor.

(* On the imdb.com page for Dispicable Me, in the trivia section, it says "in the Gru family tree, you can see Gru's mother's name is Marlina, and his father's name is Robert."  Of course, other than seeing Robert and other ancestors in Gru's family tree, we never actually get to see any members of his family, during the movie, except his mother.)

Gru and his mother clearly are not native to the United States (where they live), and their broken English accent would seem to indicate that they originated from somewhere in central to southeastern Europe.

Of course, she's also an accomplished martial artist...

Voice actor : Julie Andrews

Silas Ramsbottom is the director of the Anti-Villain League (or "AVL"), an agency "devoted to fighting crime on a global scale".  Silas orders junior AVL agent Lucy Wilde to recruit Gru to help find out which supervillain stole the very dangerous mutagenic PX-41 serum, and assist in his capture and the serum's safe return.

Silas is a bit of a stuffed shirt, however (and somewhat overweight as well)...a classy British gentleman who has little patience or tolerance for active or former supervillains (including Gru), and who will stop at nothing to see the AVL bring its every mission to a successful conclusion, regardless of the cost or consequences.  Even regardless of how accurate and reliable their methods happen to be.  And typical of a British gentleman, he prefers tweed suits and afternoon tea, even having his own butler to attend to his needs.

However, like all super spies, and in spite of his obvious physical limitation, Silas is not to be underestimated, and likely has a wealth of discreet weapons at his immediate disposal.

Voice actor : Steve Coogan

Stuart is a minion of many varied talents, but seems to serve specifically as one of Gru's infiltration specialists, and is handy with disguises and role-playing (not in the gaming sense) as well.  He has a tender side, however and, like Jerry, ends up making a pretty effective babysitter and playmate for Margo, Edith and Agnes.  He's also pretty darned addicted to video games!

In the minions darkest years, before they ever came to meet and work for Gru, Stuart teamed up with Kevin and Bob to set out in search of new and better opportunities for their brethren, as well as the biggest, baddest villain to serve...finding themselves briefly (and tumultuously) in the service of Scarlet Overkill, the greatest super villain of the late 1960s.  When he was younger, during his adventures with his fellow minions, he displayed a passion for playing guitar, and was a pretty fair musician.  Just don't put an electric guitar in his hands, or he may work himself up to a fever pitch, throwing out famous guitar riffs and then pulling a Pete Townshend-style stage move!

Above: Stuart, on stage in front of London's Buckingham Palace in 1968, absolutely shredding on an electric guitar, a gift from the United Kingdom in return for his part in defeating Scarlet Overkill and restoring Elizabeth II to the throne as rightful queen of the British Empire.

Voice actor : Pierre Coffin

Tim is a minion who serves as one of Gru's infiltration specialists, and is an expert in disguises (often preferring to disguise himself as as father in a three-minion infiltration team playing the role of a family unit).  Tim is a bit more snarky and sarcastic than the other two members of his team (Mark and Phil), and is seldom afraid to show it.  But he also loves creature comforts whenever he can gain access to them.

Voice actor : Pierre Coffin

Mark is a minion who serves as one of Gru's infiltration specialists, and is an expert in disguises (often preferring to disguise himself as as a mother in a three-minion infiltration team playing the role of a family unit).  He also loves karaoke!

Voice actor : Pierre Coffin

Phil is a minion who serves as one of Gru's infiltration specialists, and is an expert in disguises (often preferring to disguise himself as as a kid or baby in a three-minion infiltration team playing the role of a family unit).  Phil is more light-hearted than the other two members of his team (Mark and Tim), given more readily to finding amusement at almost anything.

Voice actor : Pierre Coffin

Dave is one of Gru's most trusted minions, skilled in the operation of mechanical devices and vehicles, but not terribly accomplished in the handling of weapons.  He's also a fair hand at infiltration into enemy strongholds though, like most minions, he tends to be easily distracted from the mission at hand.

Of course, apart from his official duties (and in terms of personality), Dave is a gentle, friendly and altruistic little guy.  He longs to own his own puppy, and is an affable and sociable individual who enjoys others' company.  There is very little mischief or naughtiness in this particular minion.

Dave is also something of a romantic, and develops a substantial crush on AVL agent Lucy Wilde.  He quickly realizes, however, that he has to give that up when Gru eventually falls in love with and marries her.  There are no hard feelings between Dave and his boss, however...Dave happily performs lead on a cover of All 4 One's "I Swear" at Gru and Lucy's wedding reception!

Voice actor : Chris Renaud

Bob is a clever and multi-talented member of Gru's vast ensemble of minions.  Unlike the other minions, he appears to be rather younger (at least in voice and appearance), and has a more innocent, boyish personality.  His eyes each have their own iris color...his right eye being green, and his left being hazel brown (a condition known as "complete heterochromia iridum".  He is also a little shorter than other minions of his body type (the short, round, heavy minions).

Despite being a boyish and apparently young minion, Bob's been around a long time.  He set out with
Kevin and Stuart, some time before the minions met and came to work for Gru, in order to find some new and exciting opportunities for their people--as well as the biggest, baddest villain to serve--finding themselves briefly (and tumultuously) in the service of Scarlet Overkill, the greatest super villain of the late 1960s.  Back then, Bob was very shy and apprehensive, and carried around a teddy bear he called "Tim" (see picture below).  He also, during his youthful adventures in London, adopted a friendly sewer rat as a pet (whom he called "Pussy", perhaps thinking it was a cat).  It appears that he has come into his own since he and the other minions came to work for Gru.

Bob should never be underestimated, however.  He actually spent one day as the king of England, having pulled the fabled sword Excalibur from the stone!

Bob with Tim, his beloved teddy bear:

(NOTE: Officially, and to the best of our knowledge, there is only one Bob in the Despicable Me franchise.  Most people will recognize him as the young minion with two different-colored eyes, as seen in the opening menu animation sequences, and closing credit sequences, of Despicable Me 2; and then as a featured minion in Minions.  However, there is a Bob listed in the credits for Despicable Me, but no minion precisely matching his description.  The closest one is a heavy-set minion who appears in the same manner as Bob does in Despicable Me 2, in the opening and closing sequences of the menu and credits, respectively.  But the eyes are one color, and he's a bit taller than the Bob who appeared in the later movies.

We therefore have made our best guess, pending any further clarification from official sources only, of these two minions being simply different versions of the same character which evolved, between the two
Despicable Me movies, into what he currently is represented to be.  Below is a screen capture of Bob as he appeared in the Despicable Me opening and closing sequences, where you can see the minor physical differences.  There is a lot of unofficial and non-canon information floating around on the internet and on various websites, purporting to be official and accurate...especially about individual minions.  None of those websites or graphics have made it clear that they have confirmed, with the copyright owners--Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment, that any of the material they posted is factual.  We, on the other hand, have contacted Illumination Entertainment in Los Angeles, and Illumination Mac Guff in Paris, to request clarification on this matter and others, and will correct any mistakes or erroneous information--IF THERE EVEN IS ANY HERE--as soon as they communicate with us.  Thank you for your patience and understanding in the meanwhile!)

Voice actor : Pierre Coffin

Kevin is one of Gru's most multi-talented minions and, thus, appears to hold a bit more influence and rank amongst all the minions, thanks to his historic role in leading them to a new and brighter future in the service of Gru.  He also has a passion for the game of golf, and has his own set of clubs and matching clothing for such occasions.  Of course, like all minions, he's rather mischievous and--occasionally--devious, and doesn't mind using his clubs for less-than-savory purposes (he also is pretty handy with their use as weapons).

In the minions' darkest years, prior to their ever meeting and working for Gru, it is Kevin who decides to set out in search of new opportunities for he and his brethen, accompanied by Stuart and Bob.  They sought out the biggest, baddest villain to serve...finding themselves briefly (and tumultuously) in the service of Scarlet Overkill, the greatest super villain of the late 1960s.  It was during these misadventures that Kevin was briefly exposed to some radiation which made him grow to tremendous size (towering over many of London's row homes and low-rise buildings of the time)...a situation which also aided him in defeating Scarlet and her other henchmen.

Above: Kevin, temporarily tranformed to tremendous size by a dose of radiation (from an experimental device in Herb Overkill's laboratory), towers over the buildings of 1968 London as he rushes to the rescue of his buddies, Bob and Stuart.

(NOTE: Officially there are two Kevins in the Despicable Me franchise.  Each is an entirely different type of minion.  This particular Kevin appears much more frequently than his earlier counterpart...first being seen in Despicable Me 2, and then featuring in Minions as a primary character.  Thus, when people think of a minion named "Kevin", this is usually the fellow they're associating the name with.)

Voice actor : Pierre Coffin

Jerry is one of Gru's many minions, who serves in a variety of capacities within the secret lair.  Like most of the minions, he has a great fondness for Margo, Edith and Agnes, and will go to great lengths to both protect and amuse them.  He's also pretty handy with a bedtime lullaby.  Of course, like most minions, he's also a bit mischievous and rambunctious as well.

(NOTE: Officially there are two Jerrys in the Despicable Me franchise.  Each is an entirely different type of minion.  This particular Jerry appears in Despicable Me 2, though less frequently than his counterpart.  Most notably, he is seen singing a lullaby to the girls one night, and then going in for a game of putting with Kevin, just before he's kidnapped by a mysterious force).

Voice actor : (Uncredited)

Tom is a minion who serves as a member of the cleaning crew of Gru's house and secret lair, and he takes his job pretty seriously (more seriously, it would seem, than his fellow crew member Lance does).  Even to the point of donning a maid's outfit.  However, like most minions, he's a pretty friendly, pleasant and easy-going fellow.

Voice actor : (Uncredited)

Lance serves as a member of the cleaning crew in Gru's house and secret lair.  Unlike his fellow crew member Tom, however, he tends to take a rather blasé, devil-may-care approach to his work, and even to his boss (which, with Gru, is not generally a good idea).

Voice actor : (Uncredited)

Carl is one of Gru's many minions, and he serves in a variety of general duties.  He also likes to imagine himself as a firefighter, and has secured a bullhorn and some flashing emergency lights to add effect and volume to his efforts at warning everyone, in Gru's secret lair, of any possible fire danger!  This usually brings the minions actually assigned to Gru's small fire brigade, swinging axes and dousing everything abundantly with water from fire hoses!

Of course, that repetitive "BEE-DO BEE-DO" Carl uses for alarm, through his bullhorn, can get old pretty fast...and not only for Gru, but even for his fellow minions.

Voice actor : (Uncredited)

Mike is a gentle, easy-going fellow who supervises the mailroom down in the depths of Gru's secret lair.  Unfortunately, that also means he has to supervise Ken, another minion who's not terribly fond of, or dedicated to, his particular job of sorting incoming packages.

Mike, however, takes a great deal of pride in his job of marking each incoming package for sorting and sending through one of four color-coded pipes, which route the sorted packages to other parts of the lair.  He's also something of a neatnik, and prefers to keep his color-coded stampers perfectly organized.  This is also true of his work space, which is very neat and orderly, and has several pictures (and calendars) of fluffy kittens mounted on the wall next to it.

Voice actor : Pierre Coffin

Ken is a low-ranked minion who works with his immediate supervisor, Mike, in the mailroom down in the depths of Gru's secret lair.  And while Mike takes great pride in doing a good job, Ken is really much different.  Easily bored with the mundane humdrum of sorting incoming packages (and placing them into one of four color-coded routing pipes which carry the packages off to other areas of the lair), Ken tries to alleviate some of the boredom by playing hand-held video games and stocking up on snacks.  If there's anything he can do to make the job more entertaining (or to take his mind off of it), he'll try it...even if it leads to trouble!

Ken's workspace is cluttered with packages he's fallen behind in sorting, and all manner of old snacks and junk.  It frustrates Mike, who tries to motivate him and keep him focused, but Mike's just not tough enough as a supervisor for Ken to care very much.

Voice actor : Pierre Coffin

Kyle would seem, from his behavior and basic body structure, to be a dog.  However, there are some very uncanine things going on with him.  Kyle is actually a little monster who seems to have some dog-like features, characteristics and behavior patterns.  He's not terribly friendly with strangers, and even can be a bit nippy and anti-social, from time to time, with his master Gru, with Dr. Nefario and the minions.  He even starts out that way with the girls (Margo, Edith and Agnes), but they quickly win him over after Agnes showers him with her irresistible charms.  He has since become very fond and protective of them.

Voice actor : (None)

Pollito is Eduardo Perez's pet chicken, and also the mascot of his "Salsa y Salsa" Mexican restaurant.  He* also happens to be a guard chicken, serving after hours in the same capacity as a guard dog might (and nearly as effectively, it turns out!).  He learns very quickly to hate Gru, after he and Lucy Wilde sneak into the restaurant after hours looking for the PX-41 serum.  Every chance Pollito gets after that, he tries to attack Gru (and even Lucy).  This is one mean chicken!

Eduardo, however, describes him (much as any pet owner would their own pet) as "usually very friendly".  He's owned Pollito since he was a chick, and even included him in a picture with he and his mother, which hangs in the restaurant (as seen below).

* Pollito is described by Eduardo as "he", even though the character clearly is a hen.  For the sake of continuity, we've kept the gender as male in spite of appearances to the contrary.

Voice actor : (Uncredited)

At a certain point after Gru goes to work for the Anti-Villain League, Kevin and most of the other minions are gradually stolen right out from under him, each under mysterious circumstances.  After being temporarily held in an artificial tropical setting, complete with all the trimmings, they are each transformed into evil monstrosities through injection of the PX-41 serum.  Of all the minions, Kevin becomes the second to be transformed (immediately after Tom) and then the first to be set loose, whereupon he makes a beeline for Gru's house, causing some momentary chaos before Dr. Nefario injects him with an antidote of his own making.

(The evil minions are rather more dimwitted than the normal yellow minions who work for Gru.  They also have an underslung jaw with a heavy underbite, over-sized fangs, massive unkempt hair [and a generally hairier body], scraggly chin hair, and oversized, gangly arms.  They cannot communicate in the normal minion language, though they appear to understand it.  Their most frequent utterance is a short, abrasive and intimidating "BAAH!".  They constantly twitch and shudder, and mumble and grunt.  They are also practically invulnerable to harm (even from themselves).  They can be shot by gunfire, exploded by bombs, have massive heavy items dropped on them, flames hurled at them, and still more, and yet bounce right back with no ill effects.  They can also eat anything, regardless of its composition...even explosives.  Their only motivation seems to wreak havoc.  The evil transformed minions were, it turns out, created by Dr. Nefario, when he briefly went to work for supervillain El Macho...until being saved by him when he had a change of heart and returned to work for Gru.  All of them returned to normal...apparently except one!)

Antonio is the son of Eduardo Perez, the proprietor of "Salsa y Salsa" Mexican restaurant on the upper level of the Paradise Mall.  When he's not generally being a mallrat, trying to woo the local girls and playing video games, he's hanging around his father's restaurant.  Just how much Antonio knows about his father's alter ego, the supervillain El Macho, is unclear, but its a fair bet that he knows a great deal.

Antonio walks around with a confident, suave Latin swagger, constantly pulling teen hair flips and shooting girls a cool seductive glance.  It works quite well on
Margo, and Antonio becomes her first real crush...much to Eduardo's delight, and Gru's consternation.

He wears a black leather jacket, purple shirt, blue knit tie (worn loose around his neck), blue jeans, and black Macbeth sneakers.  When he's hanging around the Paradise Mall, he enjoys scarfing down cookies and playing video games.  His greatest hope in life is to play video games professionally.

Voice actor : Moises Arias

Jillian is Gru's irritating and pesky neighbor, who seems to have an obsessive need to play matchmaker for him, much to his disgust and dismay.  She attempts to set him up with several miserable and disturbing prospects, finally cornering him with her friend Shannon, who is a major airhead.  This results in one miserable and unwanted date for Gru who, with Lucy Wilde's unexpected but much-appreciated help, manages to bring to a quick conclusion as things start to unravel.

Voice actor : Nasim Pedrad

Shannon is the friend of Gru's pesky and irritating neighbor Jillian, who has set her up on a date with Gru (against his wishes, and much to his dismay).

Shannon is a narcissistic, materialistic, rude, selfish and dim-witted young woman who is all about being a slave to trend, though she is also into exercise and sports.  She spends an inordinate amount of time on her smart phone, and chewing gum.

After Gru gets suckered into a date with Shannon, things start to unravel very quickly, until the unexpected but timely arrival of Lucy Wilde, who tranquilizes Shannon just as she's about to have a meltdown on Gru for wearing a toupee on the date with her (she "hates fake people").  Lucy and Gru then spirit her out of the restaurant, tie her on top of Lucy's car, and drop her off at her home while she's still tranquilized.

Voice actor : Kristen Schaal
