Featured on the DVD and Blu-Ray sets of the movie Minions are three mini-movies, two of which feature the beloved minions, as well as a third featuring the Nelson crime family (also from the movie). Each has a specific theme, as outlined below. You can also, in the tabs above, view screen shots from each.
On this page are synopses of each mini-movie. But first, a trailer! Enjoy!
Competition - Synopsis
At the undisclosed location of "secret bomb lab" (most likely one of Gru's first hideouts), two minions are engaged in their work, drawing up plans and designs for nefarious devices. As one of them decides that a certain drawing of his is not good enough, he tosses it overhand into the trash, celebrating his successfully hitting the trash can. As can always be expected when more than one minion is in the same room, this quickly develops into a game of waste basket basketball.
Almost immediately, an ever-increasing series of competitive bouts between the two: boxing, then thumb wrestling, followed by the hand-slapping game, then a general slap fight. This, after wearing the two competitors out, then leads to them strapping fire extinguishers to their office chairs, and rocketing through the bomb lab, knocking over three large bombs into a deep shaft, which eventually hit the ground, blowing up them and the lab. However, being minions, they're not adversely affected by the explosion. As they pick themselves up from the mess they made, the original waste paper basket that started it all falls to the ground near them, staring the chaos all over again!
Cro Minion - Synopsis
It is the age of man - when the minions had finally encountered human beings for the first time. Man was primitive and brutish in those far-back prehistoric years, but perhaps he'd be the very master the minions were looking to serve. He was strong...tough...mean! Living close to him (while scarfing down on the fruits of banana plants conveniently dotting the landscape) proved to be quite an ideal existence for the little yellow guys. How hard could this be, after all?
But man was no pushover as a master. And he had...a baby. Ugh! What an unexpected wrinkle in the status quo! As the minions' latest boss sought to feed his hungry little tyke, he tasked the minions with their toughest job yet: babysitting! If only the minions realized what sort of misadventures they were in for!
Binky Nelson Unpacified - Synopsis
In this mini-movie we pay a visit to the seemingly wholesome Nelson family, returning to their comfy home in the suburbs...after having just pulled off "another fun and successful robbery". Because, you see, the Nelsons are a criminal gang living the dual life of a wholesome, middle-class nuclear family in late 1960s America. And this latest heist has resulted in the theft of several priceless artifacts which the Nelsons will no doubt sell on the black market for a hefty profit.
On their way back home in the family station wagon, however, Madge notices that Binky's favorite pacifier is missing. "Jeepers Christmas, Madge", replies her husband Walter, "we may have left it behind in the museum!" He urges his toddler son to accept that it may be time to be "a big boy" and just forget the pacifier. But Binky's not at all happy with that and, after later realizing that his thumb is no substitute, he sets out on his own little heist to find and rescue his beloved pacifier!
