The 20th Century Fox version of Anastasia was a quite sugar-coated version of the actual tale of Anastasia (of course, the film was made before they discovered what became of Anastasia's body)
The film has a happy ending, and it adds in/alters characters meant to be the real people.
I was just wondering, would any of you prefer if the cartoon was a completely accurate representation of the legend, or if you like it the way it is.
Personally, I liked the animated cartoon the way it was and wouldn't really want it changed, but it would be really interesting to see the true story in cartoon form.

I like the sugar coated movie. I research what really happend, and...it would be really depressing for kids to watch a movie with someone getting shot, stabbed (then dying) then acid poured on them, and then burned, and then buried.
The sugar coated is kinda like, theapy.
But I like the true story and the movie's plot.

What Question said. ^
It would be interesting if there was an alternate version made with the facts from the true story, but it'd be rather traumatic I think...
And I can't really imagine the movie any other way.

I can see your point there, and like Roi said, it's kind of hard to imagine it any other way.

And also to add, I don't think the whole religous aspect of the true story would have been a good idea for the movie.

This film is tramatic enough without the more dark aspects of the true story being there (its a Don Bluth film, he always does tramatic stuff anyway). So there's that.

But you know, I actually kept thinking, that Rasputin's curse somehow saved Anastasia's life in their world. The way I see it that makes the most sense is Rasputin survived his real life death, found out the royal family was involved (which they were, just not the Czar and his direct family) and chose to kill them for revenge, making the deal with the devil its implied he'd made in the movie. And him casting the curse is the reason the timeline diverged.

Yeah, that's what happens when I overanalyze something, still, intresting to think about. Point is, other than Anastasia's age being different, this story could simply be justifed by Rasputin's curse, so I see it as an alternate universe story of if he survived and got real magical powers. I know, weird, but hey, it fills in some of the plot holes.
