Nicholas St. North and the Battle of the Nightmare King- Part of the Guardians of Childhood series, the series that inspired Dreamworks 'Rise of the Guardians.' This first book mainly focuses on the introduction and origin of the Man in the Moon, Tsar Lunar, and Pitch, and of course North. Though it is a rather short read, a great one. The style of the book is very enjoyable and compelling, the action is well done and seems very real. The setting is mystic, and the reader delights over the inventions and the tension created by Pitch's growing power. The second book is about the Easter Bunny, and the third the Tooth Fairy, the next one will be about the Sandman.

Fire Bringer- David Clement Davies

-Very appealing writing style, a lot of action and tension. I like how it's anthro animals as well. This is a classic and ranks right up there with Water Ship Down and the Redwall series.

Wat. I read this and don't recall it being anthro at all. I imagined it as feral. Since it started off with the cover being feral.

You should edit your first post rather than double posting. Double posting is a no-no.

Nope. It's anthro- both in characteristics of the animals and descriptions of the book and characters. :3 Not anthro as in... "walking on two legs, and wearing clothes", but capable of human emotion, and intelligent thought and speech (at least among each other)

^ Isn't that 'personification'? Sorry if I seem picky or terrible with terms, but I always viewed anthro as something totally different.

We're talking about the same word, right? Anthro as in anthropomorphic?

EDIT--Here are the definitions:

per·son·i·fi·ca·tion (pr-sn-f-kshn)
n.
1. The act of personifying.
2. A person or thing typifying a certain quality or idea; an embodiment or exemplification: "He's invisible, a walking personification of the Negative" (Ralph Ellison).
3. A figure of speech in which inanimate objects or abstractions are endowed with human qualities or are represented as possessing human form, as in Hunger sat shivering on the road or Flowers danced about the lawn. Also called prosopopeia.
4. Artistic representation of an abstract quality or idea as a person.

And then the definition of Anthropomorphism

an·thro·po·mor·phic
/?anTHr?p??môrfik/
Adjective

Relating to or characterized by anthropomorphism.
Having human characteristics.

One source said this:

Anthropomorphism, or personification, is attribution of human form or other characteristics to anything other than a human being. Examples include depicting deities with human form and ascribing human emotions or motives to forces of nature, such as hurricanes or earthquakes.

^ from that one, they make it out as the same thing..so...I guess..they're...synonyms?

HOWEVER--Some sites say that personification refers to inanimate objects whereas anthropomorphism refers to animals.

We'd be going around in circles with this.
My definition from yours isn't that different, Roi. But in this case, I should have clarified what I meant. In this case, with this particular book, i see as...(downplayed?) anthro. Not full out, but enough to be "not normal" animals.
Does that make sense, or am I just blabbing?

I believe so. Your view of it isn't the same as mine though.

I go from definitions of the words. I edited my post to add those.

-edit (again)

So technically..I'm reading a dictionary now xD That counts.

I have no idea. As I said I'm horrible with words. I just imagine animals that normally don't walk on two legs as walking on two legs when being described as 'anthro'. Kinda hard to change that, but view it as you wish.

Well I do agree with that xD I just think it applies even if the animals don't walk on two legs but can "talk" like people would. that's just me though...

ANYWHO:

On topic: I'm reading several things at the moment: Online Dictionary (and thesaurus<33), Articles on the English Language, and Wikipedia description for "Fire Bringer".
