I think I might currently be an exception to your theory. I enjoy both English and Math, I find them both to be similar in difficulty, and last year I got similar marks in both classes.
My marks were: English - 87% Math - 92%
Math has a slight lead, but it's only by a few percentage points.
However, I should note that I used to hate English in elementary/middle school. Also, I got marks only in the 70%-75% range. I only started enjoying it and improving my mark in about grade 9, where my mark shot up to the point it is now.
Hope that helps you with your study.

English, even though I really dislike my english class. I really, really hate being in sped classes. It's so easy. My teacher thinks we're a bunch of pre-schoolers. (I'm in those stupid classes for being too lazy to do my homework. I can handle the normal classes now! D: ) Anyway, I find math hard. So therefor, I don't like it that much.

ENGLISH ALL THE WAAAAY! One of my best subjects. I hate Math, I'm bad at it and I hate it because it's so formal and boring, in my opinion. There's only one answer and a set number of ways to work it out. Where's the fun in that? Plus, it's mega confusing and frustrating.

English, without a doubt. Math is the only subject I'm bad in. I seriously got all straight A's besides Math, which was a C.

Science......
Actually I sucked at both math and english. Average grades were 62% in math and 65% in English. Mainly because I just didn't care, and half the time I didn't go to class anyway. Got involved with some bad things and bad people around 9th grade. Wish I could go back and actually apply myself and see what I really could've done though.
