Leaving questions open just a bit

Question :

Can we please leave questions open for at least a few days, in order to give people a chance to look at them and contribute?  It bothers me that, every day (practically) I go into the "Ask Questions" section, there are no open questions.  Further, most of the questions which ran through late February up to the current date (though I have not looked back beyond the first page of closed questions) were closed after only one, possibly two responses (mostly only one).  Which leads me to conclude that, where there are more than just one or two responses, those questions happened to have been posted either at a convenient time - either when a lot of people were on, or when either of the question mods were not.

Why are they being closed so fast?  Why are others not being given the chance to provide their input?

Well now that everything has been said, basically, and to avoid further unneeded words between parties, i'll close this then.

Tibb: The way I see it, your comments were not specific enough to alleviate my concern. In either case, referring to any member's comments as "whining" is certainly uncalled for. It makes it appear that you are looking down your nose at what that member (or others) take very seriously, and expect the mods to treat FAIRLY.

Draco: Well, yeah. But I didn't ever suppose that this question was going to be left open until *I* said "okay, now I am satisfied. I give you permission to close it". My presumption was that, after steet responded, that was pretty much it. But it was still left open thereafter. That's of no consequence to me.

I'm not a wolf. Kthxbai.
I said "POSTS" which doesn't mean the question itself. Since when is a question the same as the answers? It's not. "And so far, there's only been one other /constructive/ [POST] other than mine." Never in that did I say "This question is stupid and you all are lucky I've even let this stupid thing open this long because it's getting no where."

And like Draco said, if someone finds a question they think they have a better answer for, it's not that hard to PM one of us so we can reopen the question and, if needed, change the "best answer". This can fall on the members just as much.

I'll agree that using the words 'whining and complaining' wasn't the best choice. But there really isn't any reason to keep a question open if it's been answered fully and effectively. However, if you think you may have a better answer to a question that has already been answered and closed, you're always welcome to PM the question mods (Tibb and I) and we'll read what you'd have to say about it. From there, if we agree that your answer would be best, we can reopen the page for you to post, and change the 'best answer' if needed. We want to provide the best answers to the members after all.

So now my post is a whiney complaint? Is that how I am supposed to interpret your response to MightyBalto1925? Because, clearly, the "one other /constructive/ post other than..." yours must mean steet's. Wonderful...░x░ Now we have mods accusing people, who have HONEST questions, of whining and complaining if they don't happen to like the nature of the question.

I disagree, Mighty. The only reason I've left this question open even this long was so people didn't complain and whine like I figured they would. And so far, there's only been one other /constructive/ post other than mine. If a question is answered as best as it's going to be, it has no reason to remain open as the only other replies it will get are parrots or spam.

Honestly, a question should be left open at least a week; even if there is an awnser that awnserd the question well.

It's all a matter of : is there anything to add to that question? If the moderator thinks there isn't, he/she will close the question. I also think they're closed a bit too early, but well.
