Question :

Lots of people have joined after me and they already are so popular, and they have way more freinds, and everyone reads thier profiles. No one reads my profile, everyone ignores me in the shout box, and I have very few friends. How do I get more people to like me?

Best answer :

First of all, popularity is a very ridiculous concept on this or any other site. It is not about being "popular", it is about getting along with people enough that they WANT to talk to you and interact in other ways with you. Take into account the following, and take them to HEART:

a. you are only nine years old, according to your profile. Your maturity level may be insufficient for the teenagers and young adults (and adults) on this site, who have little patience for silliness (I am not accusing you of being silly, but many young kids are).

b. Whining and complaining about not being popular will only get people frustrated with you, and then they will tend to actively ignore you. It takes TIME. You have to be patient.

c. In the shoutboxes, no one has any obligation to stop their conversations to acknowledge you or anyone else just because you come in and say hello. Maybe that seems rude...but mostly, it is not. People are engaged in conversation...you can join in, or you can wait. But trust me, constantly saying "hi", "hello", etc. is annoying. And then whining and going all emo because someone is ignoring you is the surest way to get people completely turned off to you. And DON'T do what some kids do, by pretending some terrible tragedy or illness just to trick people into talking to you. That is offensive, irritating, and idiotic.

d. Watch others and learn. Everyone was new at some point.

I don't know if popular is the right word to use. To me, there just well known.

There isn't really a way to become "popular." It just happens over a period of time. But of course it means you have to socialize with other members. Like commenting on fanfics, fanart, fan images, etc. Just don't get carried away with comments. Members will see you as an annoyance, rather than a friend. Other than that, your own your own.
