Detail Aleu

Daughter of Balto and Jenna, Aleu was born out of a litter of six puppies. Taking traits from a wolf, she looks more like a one. Like her father before her, she will be brought to face the harsh judgment from being part wolf. She remained with her parents until adulthood. Balto has hidden the truth about her origins, and Balto eventually is forced to confess to her. Rebellious and full of rage, Aleu ran away to attempt to discover the wild side of herself. She finds a wolf pack and eventually decides to stay and lead the group.

I really like her but shouldn't she be more dog than wolf ? Since Jenna is a pure dog and Balto an half wolf. She would be 75% dog and only 25% wolf.

Well, anything I can do to help the members of AS get a better picture of how real history, and even modern aspects of Nome and Alaska, tie into the Balto movies, I'm pleased to help out. However the great amount of time and passion I put in to studying the actual history, and having even visited there, can benefit Balto fans is, to me, a pleasure!

I found it very interesting how the church I saw on historical Nome photos resembled the one that was shown in Balto 3. Aslo that Aleu and Kodi's names come from real places. Looks like they did some nice research job too.

Alright, I am going to try again to post what I HOPE will be taken as a contributory and helpful item, in response, once again, to Eska's earlier (and probably correct) presumption that Aleu's name was drawn from the name of the Aleutian Island chain of Alaska (and, as I noted in my previous post, also or otherwise drawn from the name of the native Aleut people, from whom the island chain gets its name), and how actual Alaskan things and places were used in designing the Balto movies (which I hope can be of benefit to everyone here):

- Balto's boat, which I talked about in a topic on the forum some time ago...a boat which, while not from the time of the real Balto, DOES really exist in Nome: [...] t-could-it-be-real-t33306.html

- the gold dredges, seen so often in the first Balto movie (also noted in that forum topic above)

- St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, which appears in Balto 3 and, briefly, I believe, in the first movie (again, also noted in the forum topic above)

- the very subtle reference to Togo (a real serum run hero dog) in the early design of Balto, resulting in the dog which tries to get to Jenna in the early scenes of the first Balto movie, but is held back by the leash his owner is holding

I should think as many times as a simple, four-letter word like "Aleu" is misspelled on this site (or, alternatively, how many times people come on suggesting, longingly, that someone here, or Universal itself, "should make a Balto 4"). Which, I think we all know, happens ad nauseum here. It's a big deal to a lot of people precisely because nobody can conceive of how misspelling a simple name like "Aleu" could be so monumentally common within a certain age group.

A name like "Vercingetorix" or something? I could totally see frequent misspellings of that name (were a character in the Balto milieu to even HAVE such a complex name...which none do). Total pass there. Lol

But really. And no, I doubt anyone is likely to let that go anymore than any kid who frequently misspells the character's name even cares. However, pointing it out isn't against the rules, so...
