Unfortunately, the owl is still in a mystery. Already it feels like something supernatural and in the different visual style.

However, I finally have found some details and information about this snow owl and scene with this character. Originally, it was the Dream Sequence. The idea that Balto had a dream in the original film. As a proof here some pictures, designs in the Inuit art-style from 1992, preproduction of the film.

We can see here the big bird (probably the snow goose), the white wolf, the black wolf and white fox (or a dog, or a wolf), the reindeer, the bear (snow bear or black grizzly bear, I don't know, 'cause it can be the same bear, but with the different colors) and the snow owl. Maybe this scene shows Balto's past (the goose, the wolf), maybe Balto feels the call of the wolves (like in "The call of the wild"). I guess, this scene shows the hunt in the forest or something like this. Or it's just the tale or a legend from the Inuit mythology.

Beautiful, stunning and gorgeous art. I assume, we could get the another awesome scene along with the famous White Wolf scene.

Maybe, in the future we will learn more about it. At least, I hope.
