It's time once again to commemorate the anniversary of the 1925 Nome Serum Run...
Article Written by BaltoSeppala
Folks,
I hope we haven't forgotten that today, January 27th, is the anniversary of the very first of a series of events which culminated in the arrival of Gunnar Kaasen's team in Nome, at 5:30 A.M., on February 2nd, 1925. The team, led by Balto, was carrying the 20-pound package of diphtheria anti-toxin ampules...which had passed from driver-to-driver (changing hands 20 times).
This is an historic time...take the time to give tribute, however you can...a silent thank you, a post here, whatever. Those dogs and men sacrificed their own lives to save others...through some of the most challenging terrain and weather which mushers ever faced. They deserve to be remembered and celebrated for that!
On my website, I am keeping a countdown tab of the most important events. Please stop by and have a look! www.baltostruestory.net
