Balto's Parents
We all know Balto is part wolf and part husky.
What I don't get is how people think that both Balto's parents were wolves. First all of, he already looks like a wolfdog, and second, a major point in Balto 1 was that Balto was a wolfdog.
But, until Balto 2, in which Balto announced that his father was a husky and his mother was a wolf, is was really unsure which was which. What if the staff of Balto 1 were thinking that Balto's mother was a husky and his father was a wolf?
Although this idea could have been possible, I would still find it unlikely. For, if Balto's mother was a husky, she would probably not have been seperated from her pups. But if Balto's mother was a wolf, than the idea that she had been seperated from her half-breed pups is more likely.
I don't think the idea that Balto's mother was a wolf set in to the Wolf Quest staff's minds until they saw the White Wolf in Balto 1. I do not believe this was intended to be Balto's mother, but rather a wolf in the right place at the right time. There are even some rumors that the White Wolf from Balto 1 was a male.
Now, given the evidence just by the 1st movie alone, yes, I believed Balto's mother was a wolf.
The idea that Balto's mother was a white wolf leaves open the fact that his father must look a lot like Balto.
His father, being a husky, was probably seperated by his family after his humans found out he had pups with a wolf. However, in reality, I don't think this would have been the case in most situations. Although wolfdog hybrids can be hard to train, I heard a lot of mushers want wolfdogs, for their strength and determination. But, that's getting off topic.
So, in conclusion, Balto's mother was most likely a wolf and Balto's father was most likely a husky, whether or not you take in the evidence from Balto 2.
