BOLT VS BALTO.

BOLT VS BALTO.

I had a feeling they were going to do this.

Had anyone notice or seen this movie on advertisment? Yes it is called

BOLT.

A non pixar movie about a dog who thinks he has powers. His life was always on a t.v. set, but now he had to make a journey across America to find his owner, Penny.

If you don't know what this movie looks like, you could see this trailer on youtube.

Yes, another talking animal movie. The white german shepard (yes, movie reviews says it is a german shepard) doesn't even look much of its kind.

 and the animation....

Article

As moving on here, you could see that the two dogs are completely different. To my guess, I bet Disney only did little study on dogs. (probably not as much from Balto) Here are some differences about these two pictures.....

1st pic is more muscular and tall. Its legs are sturdy and good built. The tail is down while standing in that position.

2nd pic has a rounder head shape with the ears of a chihuahua! The nose is bigger than usual.

Also, the 2nd pic has scrawny legs, a less muscular body, the paws seem to be more complex, and the tail is short.

Yes, it is an animation movie, but would it hurt to do some research? The movie does look good, but look at Balto's work.

Here is a website about wolf-dogs, yes it is wikipedia. Seems pretty descent on the work the person had displayed on there.

But let's continue.....

Yes and here's Balto!

Balto

Look at these similarities!

In both of the pictures, the paws are simple.

Back structure looks pretty much the same, sturdy.

The tails look almost the same! Both of the fur color seems like to reach at the same point of the tail.

The ears are both pointy, and Balto's seems very realistic just like the upper picture.

The legs are well- built like the upper picture.

Lastly, Balto's nose is simply just like the upper picture.

When I was reading the article in wikipedia, I saw something very interesting!

The interesting thing that said in the pretty decent article was that female wolves usually will mate with the male dogs. In the movie of Balto, his mom was wolf and his dad was dog. Since that Universal studied on dogs, maybe they did this research about the female wolf and male dog. Appealing, isn't it?

My point here is that I feel bad that Balto didn't have much respect and honor when released into the theaters. Such beautiful work I think was put into this movie very well. Then, you're going to have this Disney movie with little and less research, and more and more little children will hear Bolt's name then Balto. This movie would probably get more respect because it is well..... Disney! It is now getting iratating that these two companies are attacking by the throat, trying to make a better animation movie than the other.

In my opinion, Bolt seems a movie of less detail. Yes, I think it does seem fun to watch, but the story plot does not trigger me. I wonder what the reviews would be for this movie when it will come to theaters...

Thank you for reading my article! I hope you can understand my point here, because I did a lot of work into this article! Here are some resources I had gotten my pictures from.

Mainly I had gotten my pictures from google images.

Please tell me if you liked my article or not! I want to here from you guys if I should improve it from next time I write another article similar like this.

(No, I did not copy off this from anyone. This is purely from myself. I made it and I did not copy. So don't go commenting to me saying I had copied off of some one. Thank you very much.)

CarlMine z why are you even on this site since you obviously don't like Balto. A movie that would embarrass you to watch even with your family, really? If you don't like Balto so much then go get on some fan site for Bolt. Bolt is a good movie but I believe that Balto is way better. For one thing Balto is based on a true story. Balto really did save hundreds of people in Nome. Bolt is just a made up story about a cute little dog who believes he is a super hero. Believe me, Bolt was a great movie with alot of laughs, but Balto in my book will always be better, and since you seem to love Bolt so much I am at a loss to know why the heck your on this site.:/:

What are you blabbering about you illiterate imbeciles!?

How you can even compare the two movies is beyond me. Questioning Bolts superiority as a character is laughable to say the least!

As to the movie:
Not only was Bolt widely considered by critics and journalists to be the best Animated Disney feature of the decade, it’s also a by far better movie by almost every standard.

Bolt is a damn enjoyable and undeniably funny film with wonderful animations and deep, likable characters. Furthermore, the movie scored 90 percent on the Rotten Tomatoes Meter. Whereas Balto, which reached the poor grade of 50 percent according to the same measurement, has been described as a useless piece of poor storytelling with a love story that is (quote) “pure mush”. (USA Today) A movie I would be literally ashamed to even watch with my family.
But the movies and their reception aside, Bolt as a CHARACTER is still superior.
Not let’s start with his visual appearance as that is this entry, and most comments, seems to be fanatical about. It is true that Bolt is not anatomically correct to the common White Shepherd. Neither was he supposed to be.

The animates and directors worked hard for many months to create a character with a unique, distinguished and memorable appearance that still looks really good. As such, the handsome doggy characterizes some features that are absolutely exclusive to him.

"Bolt is a cute enough little fellow with a winning personality and a nice voice, but his physical gestures and facial expressions turn him into a memorable, irresistible character."
/ New York Times - A.O. Scott

Bolt was given two big shepherd-like ears to add another expressive feature to his face. His anthropomorphic facial expressions have been animated in a way to look very believable, being very detailed. His mimics are exemplary, perfect! You could freeze the movie, and watch his face’s every expression frame by frame, and enjoy his brilliantly communicative mimics. Bolt is undeniably cute, with his big black nose, his huge communicative golden brown eyes and perfectly shaped muzzle. He is made to look cute. And made to have all the features of the common dog, and still being able to fully express all kinds of human-like facial expressions.

"The wonderfully expressive features on Bolt make him feel almost real"
/ Daily Express UK - Allan Hunter

His body is surprisingly well-shaped, so to say. (Of some reason, the animators even took time to add distinguished biceps to his front legs). His body holds an all-time proud and elegant posture. But it also works to display a range of difference emotions and stances, like fear, surprise, domination, uncertainty and so forth. His stance, his tail, his ears, together with his facial expressions, you might not notice it the first time you work watch the movie, but it all comes together in a seemingly natural but not the less communicative way.

And hey he looks good. With the risk of sounding extremely weird, one would have to admit that his sleek body, trim belly, strong arms, legs, neck and so forth comes together to create a quite attractive animated mutt. No doubt, this was the animators’ intention, those who spent weeks analyzing the looks of several different breeds of dogs and afterwards, spending months in front of the computer monitor designing Bolts every texture out of personal intuitive. Also the level of detail that was put into the textures is just stunning. Every hair on his bloomy white coat has a life of its own.

And youd have to have a heart of stone not to melt by the sight of his puppy-self in the beginning of the movie.

"Bolt's fur is startlingly real, and animal gestures are faithfully reproduced: Bolt savaging his favorite plastic toy, raising a front paw slightly when he hears a distant unidentified sound."

/The Telegraph - David Gritten

As to his personality. Bolt is a no doubt inspiring but rather quiet character. Bolt prefers to use a few meaningful words rather than uttering a unnecessary mouthful. He is thus probably the most quite character in the film. But that doesnt for a second make him any less touching. His focused, tough and almost aggressive, attitude when he is searching for Penny - in contrast with his warm, emotional and caring sides - is what gives him his deep, complex personality and the well-deserved title as the movies’ protagonist.

I could write pages about his personality, and how his character development has changed from the many things he has been through – but it would be an assured waste of time to post anything of the like on this forum. (With no invectives intended)

I think the story would have been more exciting if Bolt had REALLY been a super hero then kids would have loved that!
Also they sould make a TV series of his life as a super hero! How cool would that be?! And like if Penny could really have been in danger with Mittens and all a his side!
Then the animaters could really play about with him letting him shoot lasers and stuff plus voices and all? MORE MONEEEY........ HINT HINT HINT!!!!

If I had no choice but to rate the two films (I loved them both), I'd give Bolt a 9.5 and Balto films a 10.0. I liked Bolt better in 3D in the theaters, though. Still a good film. Anyway, I'm always loyal to Balto, through thick and thin (LOL that sounds so weird).

Haven't seen Bolt ( don't want to either), but , in case no one has noticed, Disney kind of took a "nap" ( meaning made boring, colorless movies) after making the last of the great classics in the 90s. I don't think that Bolt is showing that Disney has "awaken".

Bolt seems to be based off the character of Thunderbold that 101 dalmatians watch on TV except the fact he's a normal coloured German shepherd unlike Bolt who is white.

Bolt was actually a good movie, plus, if you had a picture of Penny next to Bolt, you could see that he's about the size of a smaller German Shepherd. Also, I have a cat, and an Austrailian Shepherd, almost the same size, right? Well, the cat's almost as big as maybe around half of my dog!

I think Bolt is just another rip off like all of the other movies! I think Balto is better because those things happened and it is realisitc. But Bolt is just too childish and NOT realisitic.

Are you sure Bolt sucks? I mean,I'm only 9 but it looked
ok,I read the junior Novelization. I think the creators were very
resourceful and good at the basics, but Balto rules! (It would be easy
to name a cat mittens, you hear that word from first grade and on).
Great artical. *faves*

I saw both movies... I have to say that I'd give Bolt a 5 out of 10,
and Balto, well, a 10 out of 10!! When I heard about Bolt and when I
saw Bolt I thought he was a chihuahua! I have an article that compares
both movies.
