Kit Cloudkicker Questions

Question :
KitCloudkicker52885 :

I have a few more questions about Kit (my favorite character) and here they are:

1.) In the days before Kit joined the pirates, did he ever steal anything, like food and money? Or did he just worked odd jobs with helping pilots unload cargos to earn a few bucks? I think he mostly worked to earn a few bucks, he knows a thing or two about earning money (as evident when he offers to repaint the fence for Rebecca  to earn a few bucks.)

2.) Did Kit willingly joined the pirates or was it a choice between joining them or being dropped off the Vulture way out at sea? I'd say that was possible, since the last time Kit double-crossed the pirates in Plunder & Lightning, Karnage ordered Dumptruck to drop him off the edge of the Vulture's beak.

3.) If Karnage really was jealous of Baloo for his flying skills and for taking Kit away from him, why didn't Karnage try to win back Kit like Baloo did with Daring Dan or take him back when he had the chance in "I Only Have Ice for You"?"

Maybe he knew he'd never win Kit back after dropping him off the Vulture back in P&L...

1. Kit stole food when he had to (he was on the streets by himself, so... it was a necessity sometimes). He has a lot of the Artful Dodger in him.

2. I can't really remember exactly, but I always thought he joined the Pirates as the lesser of two evils. It was a way to survive, and it did have a certain cache value... it was rather daring and romantic... until reality reared its head.

3. I don't think Karnage cared that much about Kit except as a chip in an ongoing game of "how much am I winning." He may have pretended to befriend Kit, but... Karnage, in hindsight, was very much a Narcissistic Personality Disorder kind of guy: me, me, me! Once Kit crossed Karnage, he was "dead to me."

Oh, it's very interesting to learn that "I Only Have Ice For You" was one of the first scripts written - I always figured it to be special, and it's one of my top favorites (if not MY favorite!) And even more that Plunder & Lightning was written long after other episodes!

Mark's answer is right on.

Yes, Kit willingly joined the pirates... the way Max willingly joined the Wild Things. It was a phase he was going through. And he was, after all, looking for a "family" unit. The pirates suited him for a while. Karnage didn't threaten him to join - it was probably more like Foulfellow enticing Pinocchio.

Yeah, I agree with Mark. I don't see Karnage as jealous of Baloo's flying skills. Karnage is much to fat-headed to think he is anything less than amazing. Further, Karnage would never go out of his way to woo someone back. If he can't steal it, forget it. (Like Tigger after failing at ice skating. "Tigger's HATE ice skating.") Further still, do not use "I Only Have Ice" out of context. That was the first or second script written in the series. The 5-part "Plunder and Lightning" came much later in the production process. It was only THEN that we came up with the idea that Kit was once a pirate. We had no inkling in "Ice."

Ah! Such "real" answers are sure to please the fans of Kit around here :)

1. I figured he would steal if he had to, even before being a pirate. Would have the Disney executives let you show that?

2. I also figured he never truly enjoyed being a pirate...From the way he's acting and talking about them.

3. Guess I was a bit right, then? Cool! lol

#3- Simple Kit and I can basically boil it down to this famous saying: Fool me once shame on me; fool me twice shame on you. Of course Don Karnage did try a third time in the comics to recruit Kit and Kit basically buried him making Don and his pirates look like a bunch of fools. Which I don't mind. In other words; Don gave up because it was clear to him that Kit screwed him and therefore there is no point to try to get him back. Kit wants no part of him and after P&L Part Four; Don feels the same.

I think he had a yellow colored airfoil in that comic. Now there's a concept that the television creators should have tried: Different colored air foils for Kit.

My 2 cents, but from the previous questions about the character's past, I'm not sure Jymn will answer this - but hey, you can still try lol

About 3), I'm really not sure that Karnage cared about Kit - I think the best he saw about the boy was a good member for his piratish plans (Kit's much more clever than the other air pirates...), but nothing more.
As for being jealous of Baloo's skills...I didn't feel that either. I felt he was annoyed by him ruining his plans, not about his skills.
My opinion, of course.

Shout box : steet (8 days) : "Wrong! In the desert." I love Kit's reactions to Baloo in that episode.
