I was wondering. Throughout the entire series of Talespin, breakthroughs in technology have been a common theme in the episodes. But what confuses me is that the whole "evolution of technology" in the show is kind of backwards.
What I mean is that in the "Plunder & Lighting" movie, we see Don Karnage using a super sci-fi lighting gun that uses a special electrical jewel developed by Shere-Khan industries. Then later robots are featured in several episodes as well as a shrink ray.
But what confuses me is that about the near the later episodes, it turns out the jet engine and the helicopter have just been developed. Robots and ray guns were around before helicopters and jet engines?
What I am asking is that was this just a common episode idea theme or something else?

Yes, read the previous answers. They're good.
One other thing to remember is.... Don't get hung up on the chronology of the series. Other than the origin mini-series at the front end of the series, every other episode is interchangeable. Sure, they were written and produced in a certain order, but that is strictly for production reasons. The stories themselves can be mixed up and shuffled into any order, and the series still works. Don't get hung up on "ray guns" before "helicopters" and all that.

And don't forget that ray weapons was one of main theme for 1920s and
1930s sci-fi, for example, a novel "The Hyperboloid of Engineer
Garin" by Alexey Tolstoy. And is known that ray weapon supposed to be
really created in 1910s by Nicola Tesla but he leaved this projects to
avoid new holocaust. |

This is just a cartoon, buddy, their history don't apply to ours, but
I can see what you mean though, this is the late 1930's and they seem
to be a little more advanced in technology than our late 1930's, at
the same time a little behind... One episode, Baloo laughed at the idea of a television set but television was already invented by that time with black and white programs, they listen to radio shows. Like Jymn said, Tale Spin is a different universe, their 1930's is very different from ours and their history don't apply to us, and ours don't apply to them I think Jymn established that the Tale Spin world had a few wars but no World War II, unless I misunderstood him. Like I said, nothing in our timeline and world apply to Tale Spin's timeline and world. |
