New Disney Movie Announced!
EDIT: EXTREMELY LATE APRIL FOOL'S! Courtesy to Aaeron DiNozo for making the cover!
I didn't believe this until I did further research, but I am pleased--and excited--to announce that Disney Animation has green-lit a brand-new movie: Eragon!
<--Teaser poster for Eragon, which draws similarites to the original book cover.
Eragon was previously made into a film in 2006, but drew poor critical reception. Despite this, it was the 16th highest-grossing film of the year. However, many moviegoers--fans of the book and otherwise--were disappointed with this take of the Eragon story. Author Christopher Paolini is quoted as saying, "The movie was horrible. I wish it had never been made."
Disney executive Robert Iger approached Paolini to remake Eragon, as well as purchasing the rights for potential sequels should Eragon do well at the box office. So far, Paolini has been fascinated with the idea of a remake. "I always dreamed of Alagaesia [the land in which Eragon takes place] to be dream-like, and with animation, I can't wait to see that effect."
Eragon is the first story in the Inheritance Cycle. The three sequels are Eldest, Brisingr, and the recently-announced Inheritance. The contract Paolini signed will have Eragon being released in Christmas 2015, Eldest in 2017, and Brisingr and Inheritance being released sometime in the early 2020s.

What does everyone think of this? I can't WAIT to see this newest Disney animated film!

I wonder if Aaron Paul would be able to do Eragon. He showed an amazing acting ability as Jesse Pinkman in "Breaking Bad." Was thinking of John De Lancie, or Rutger Hauer, as Galbetorix. Liam Neeson for Brom. Craig Ferguson (Gobber the Belch in How to Train Your Dragon) would make a great Orik, I think. Gerald Butler (Stoic the Vast in How to Train your Dragon) as Hrothgar, king of the dwarves. Hellen Mirren (Dean Hardscrabble in Monsters University) might do a great Saphira. As an animation where there are only voices, as compared to a movie where the person is visible can get confusing. Hard for some of these to be visualized as dwarves, but they did some amazing work in Lord of the Rings, making a human appear dwarvish. Any other thoughts on casting? Or alternatives to these ones?

What do I think? I agree with Christopher Paolini; the movie sucked. I want to see this movie done right with the brilliant and vibrant characters Christopher brought to life in his story. The Blond pretty boys in the movie were rediculous; who did the casting for the characters; it was pathetic. There should not have been a single image of Galbatorix, or his reaction till the very end, just as in the books as the guessing about perspective was such a powerful element to it. The movie's Angela was a joke. That character was nothing but a flipant charicature. Angela is powerful by her fearlessness and her complete lack of concern for how other's evaluate her behaviour, and should never have been treated so disgracefully. Gilda, the good witch of the North , would have made a far better representation of the playfulness of Angela. The Urgals shouldn't have been the throw-aways they were made out to be. It looks as thought they pooled the entire budget on expensive actors and animating Saphira, but screwed up with stupid holywood formulaes. Eragon should have been a scruffy, reluctant, brown haired youth. His cousin, originally, a hard working, muscular, weathered, determined, youth. There's so much potential and promise for this epic. Christopher, I hope you retain control over this story.

I am thrilled about the remake of Eragon but i am begging you to not make it an anamation. The current anamations target market is sarcasic and have child humor. To make one of the best books ever into one of them would destroy the story a second time, unless they stick to the book, have the best animation, keep all the violence like in the book even if it has to be rated 16. BUT if they do it like LOTR and have it identical to the book it could become one of the best movies ever. This could be the last time to make Eragon great and go down in history as one of the best movies of all time. Just please don't destroy the world of Alagaesia again, that is the one thing all fans will agree on. Thank you

I hope Disney does the book(s) justice. I never read the books but my wife has read all 4 and loves them and tells me all the time how awful the movie was compared to it. If they were to redo it I think Peter Jackson should step up to the plate and do it as he did the LotR Trilogy. Make all 4 at once and release in order, 6months-1year apart.

I am very excited about this news! I just hope that it is true. I was very disapointed with the movie and I loved the book sooooo much. An idea that I had though was that, maybe, the producers of "The Lord of the Rings" could do it. I mean, that move was magical! And the land they filmed it on was amazingly beautiful! Exactly how I imagined Alagaesia. They also had great special effects. I am still thrilled though. Animation can do so much with the characters. They have no limits. I can only hope that they follow the book.
