Chip chip chip chip'n Dale! (revival!!!)

Written by steet :

Strange things happen sometimes...

Some of our youngest folks here probably don't remember it, but the Disney Afternoon program was the most watched cartoons in Disney history. There were Ducktales, Gummi Bears, Darkwing Duck and TaleSpin, all awesome in their own kind.

The Disney Afternoon

They're a big part of the Disney golden age in the 90's! Maybe even more than the films...

And there also was Chip'n Dale Rescue Rangers. Here's to refresh your memory :

(and I strongly recommend everyone not knowing these Disney shows to watch some episodes on Youtube!)

Then, after these shows ended their run 15 years ago, Disney just dropped out their support and there has not been anything new for them since then. (or pretty much) They've also rarely been re-aired. That doesn't mean they've been forgotten...Not at all.

One proof? Recently, we've heard about a weird Russian cult about Gadget Hackwrench, the inventor girl from the show's main cast...

Gadget russian cult

Yes, this is for real! Now just tell me when they will be writing a TaleSpin bible :)

And a few days ago, surprise!!! Boom! Studios, which is releasing new Darkwing Duck comics, which sells extremely well, announced new ongoing Rescue Rangers comic books to come this December! Here are some covers art :

Chip Dale Rescue Rangers comic cover 3

Honestly, this is AMAZING art to me. Maybe even the best covers I have ever seen for comic books!

So yes, that and a few other things are clues that, finally, the Disney Afternoon is getting some kind of revival (this was long overdue!)

The Rescue Rangers comics are written by Ian Brill (the writer of the Darkwing comics) and the art is from Leonel Castellani (he drew the first cover art) The first issue will be available in December for $3.99 in your comic book stores or can be ordered on Boom Studio's site.

The Darkwing Duck comics are currently being released : 3 issues have been released, with the first one being reprinted and available now! Also a trade paperback of the first 4 issues will be released in December.

As for TaleSpin comic books? Well there are several contradictory messages coming from Boom...I sure hope like MAD that this will come one day though.

In any case : if you like the Disney Afternoon shows, buy the comics (and DVDs). If you don't know them, watch them!!!

I know I shouldn't do this, but I have learned over the time that most people who come on Animation Source are too young and have never watched them. So here are links to watch each of the series first episode :

That's so great! I knew that they may be back. Because that's one of all-time Disney top hits. I so missed the Rescue Rangers...

i was born in the mid 90s and my earliest memories only fo back to about 1998, but this article broke a memory for me! i seem to vaguely remember this cartoon - maybe it was aired late on in the mornings once or twice by the bbc, but i think we had cable when i was about 3 or 4, so i might have seen it on the disney channel (if it was around) or cartoon network...
i have to admit that the religion is kinda wierd and creepy in my opinion - but hey! if it works for them, why not? its not breaking any laws, so i say they should go for it!:P

Well, I'm not sure if anyone knows, but I'm on vacation, so shopping right? While looking for somekind of movie, I saw a new release of the first volume of Tail Spin. I didn't buy it, but I found it interesting!
