Nacht was born on a deer farm. Because he was born of mutant colors, he was destined to be skinned when he reached the proper age. The farmer decided it would be best to disbud the young buck when his antlers began growing in. He was caught and held down, but despite that fact that 6 men were holding him, he still managed to struggle violently. Because he struggled, the debudding iron wasn't held to his antler-stubs long enough and the tissues weren't completely destroyed. The next season, his left antler grew in as a mere scur, while the right side produced a double-antler; that is, 2 antlers growing out of one side. These two grotesque growths formed into one horrid, twisted antler. It is thought that this phenomenon is causing excess pressure on his skull, and thus, excess pressure on his brain, making him mentally unstable and frightfully unpredictable.
Due to the aggression issues caused by the deformity, the farmer felt that they had better do him in as soon as possible, for his pelt seemed large enough to make an impressive wall-hanging. So, they herded him into a chute and, rifle in hand, prepared to shoot him. But Nacht was smarter then they thought, and he propelled himself out of the chute, head in the perfect position. He rammed one of his points into the rifle and tossed his head back, flinging the gun into the pen behind him. He landed on the farmer, and with one single thrust, ran the old man through his heart.
Feeling freedom for the first time, Nacht unwittingly leapt into a large green pasture. He ran a foul with a bull, who was certain that the stag wanted his cows. The bull attacked suddenly, and gored Nacht in the flank. The attack left a deep, criss-crossed scar. Nacht fought back, and left the bull with deep gouges on the face and neck that ultimately were fatal. Nacht leapt the fence again and ran into the forest, but not before scraping his injured flank on a piece of sharp, shredded sheet metal on an old, abandoned shed. This caused an array of smaller scratches and slashes that eventually became scars that accompanied and even overlapped the scars left by the bull.
He wandered on his own for a few years, and each year, his double antler would come in thicker and heavier then before, while his deformed little scur stayed the same size. He became more unstable as the years wore on, and took to randomly attacking and killing whatever creature crossed his path.
One day, after one of his blood-thirsty episodes left him surrounded by the fresh corpses of a family of elk, a massive stag came to him from the dark part of the forest. The stag introduced himself as Trar, and Nacht was frightened and confused, still coming down from his murder-high. Trar confided in him that he was impressed by Nacht's bravery and strength. He requested that Nacht join him and the herd that Trar himself had personally just acquired. Trar promised Nacht second choice of the finest does in the herd, and a welcome spot as his right-hoof man.
The prospect of a future and a life among others seemed to calm the unstable look in Nacht's fierce yellow eyes. He accepted, and hasn't had another episode since.
Of course, that's not to say that he has been thoroughly cured of his random, unstable fits of rage. It's only a matter of time, some think, before he goes berserk again.....
